I just got this on Facebook:

A message from Herbert Properties LLC . . .
Would you like to be a member of THE DUNE LEGION-- a specialty group For Elite Dune Fans?....

THE WINDS OF DUNE (due out August 4th from Tor Books) is the 17th book in the epic chronicles created by Frank Herbert and continued by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. Over the years, we have received countless letters of support from fans around the world. With the upcoming release of WINDS, we would like to invite fans to spread the news! We’re looking for web-links, help getting the word out about author book signings, posting blogs or reviews, uploading press releases, and generally spreading the word about the books. THE WINDS OF DUNE is the tenth full-length Dune novel written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson and is a real milestone in the series, the sequel to Frank Herbert's classic DUNE MESSIAH and a follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed bestseller PAUL OF DUNE.....

If you are a fan of the Dune books -- both the new and the originals -- and would like to participate as a member in THE DUNE LEGION, please send us an e-mail at fancomments@dunenovels.com....

--Sincerely, Herbert Properties LLC....

"Critically acclaimed"?

By whom, exactly, HLP? Link me up with just one positive review that's not some slobbering fanboy's blog.

Well, I guess the Spayshul Fartsers thing is working out really well for Kevin, and the Herberts decided to get them some of the pie, too?

"A specialty group for Elite Dune Fans"? What happened to appealing to the lowest common denominator?

Totally morally and intellectually bankrupt.

I'm actually embarrassed for Frank. This is just shameful.

OMG I can be elite!

I wonder whether this will lead to them saying "well, the elite dune fans like the NuDune stuff, so clearly they are of high quality".

"Over the years, we have received countless letters of support from fans around the world."

I wonder why they felt like they had to include that sentence? Trying to establish their own legitimacy?

The increased militancy and entrenchment are definite clues. ;)

It's a safe bet that's the conclusion they have already made and will write on every new book that comes out...poor bastards... :snooty:

If they are entrenched, we have won.

We've already won the war, but there are plenty of entertaining battles left to fight.

The war was lost by the HLP the minute KJA's name came up. I mean, he's worse than Ed Wood, I don't see any of his work achieving cult status over how crap it is. It's that bad.

I see the KJAVSF or "Fanboy Legion" as desperate attempts to increase sales on a series that is dying a cancerous death. The publisher knows it, the HLP knows it, and KJA sure as shit knows the books are crap and fanboys are growing up and leaving them behind.

What an amateur. A true professional can get the job done with only one of those three objects.

Translation: Our books aren't selling as well as they could be and our advertising budget is spent. So we need dumbass volunteer shills (aka fans) of our snake oil to help spread our anal paste such that more people catch an irresistible whiff. YARP! :puke:
