Re: Coup in Honduras

There are some governments that say they will not recognize today's election in Honduras on the principle that it is taking place after a military coup and that the former president is still not reinstated. I don't agree with this position. The United States is right in their decision to recognize the election.

Whatever the circumstances, best way to resolve it is through reconciliation. When there is a dictatorship, the only way to undo it is through having an election and putting in a democratically elected government.

Besides, we can't ignore Honduras forever. Other countries should arrest those who carried out the coup should they ever travel outside Honduras, but do not deny the Honduran people their right to democracy.
