In all the years since I first heard of Kevin J. Anderson I've never bothered to find out.
So what does the J in KJA actually stand for?

It actually (honestly!) stands for J(esus Christ Superstar).
James. Or Jimbo, when he's back home on the farm in Wisconsin. 'Boveca (AKA "Slippery When Squeaky") calls him "J-Man" when he's groping her in the bathroom. Jambo is what the Bantu peoples call him. (His Seven Suns heptalogy has just recently been translated into Zulu and Xhosa.)
