I think this group deserves their own topic.
I've recently watched the movie Control
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421082/
and the documentary Joy division
http://www.joydivisionmovie.co.uk/
and am again awed by their music and the legacy they left behind.
It was tragic how Ian Curtis ended his life&and career but he left something of major importance behind.
The lyrics are so not forced, and neither is their music.
When i listen to it it's perfection alive(my opinion;))
So i opened this topic so we can all discuss about the documentary, the movie, lyrics, music and what would it take to happen today to have something so fresh, new and spontaneous happening in the music world.

Joy division
" Nature beauteous form
Contains a lovely essence
Called by some- decay
By this lovely presence
New life finds its way.
Tears shed silently
Are but water of soul
They bring new life
To the pain of being--
A separation from that seeing
Which death makes whole."

self-indulgent, why?inhuien wrote:Joy Division are indeed a force majeure and deservedly a lasting inspiration, just as are the Doors whom they owe more than a nod. I can’t listen to them to much anymore as I find thier introspection too self indulgent these days.
have you seen the movie or the documentary?

Why, because it's a constant, their most uplifting song is "Love will tear us apart again" and that's saying something. They have been a favourite band of mine for more than 25 years so they must be doing something I dig even if it’s on a masochistic level.ARCH wrote:self-indulgent, why?inhuien wrote:Joy Division are indeed a force majeure and deservedly a lasting inspiration, just as are the Doors whom they owe more than a nod.
