Jessica to the Winds of Dune inconsistencies!

What?! The book's not even completely finished yet, let alone published, and already I'm starting a thread like this, you exclaim in complete bewilderment.

THAT'S RIGHT! :P

'Cause Kevvy has revealed some new info on his blawg on Dumb Novels, along with the Stephen Youll cover image.

Inconsistency #1 (Meta-versal/Real World)
JESSICA OF DUNE is the direct sequel to DUNE MESSIAH
Up until now he's said that JoD would be set in the same "Muad'Dib's Jihad" period as PoD. So he was lying or he changed his mind before or during the hiking...I mean "writing" and let the misinformation stand.

Inconsistency #2 (McDune vs Real Dune)
In one scene in the new novel, Jessica goes out to Sietch Tabr so that she can see where he has gone.
WTF is she doing on Arrakis post-Messiah?

Inconsistency #3 (McDune vs Real World)
Steve and I had talked about using that as a cover image, Jessica staring off into the expanse of Dunes, perhaps seeing a line of footprints vanishing into the distance.
How long does this hack think footprints last in sand? Or are the sands of Arrakis special?

Oh, right, I forgot that old Fremen proverb: The sands remember.

Inconsistency #4 (Common sense?)
an earlier scene where Jessica and Alia walk through a crowded Arrakeen bazaar
Yeah, right. The Atreides Regent and her mother strolling through a busy market with no guards.

Oh! They must be using that ole Bene Gesserit invisibility mojo! :P

Yeah, start chumming the waters: it's gonna be another sharkfest.

Man, your hatred of the Hack is almost magical. Just when I think I've lost the energy to care any more you fire it back up. :D

Obvious ... over-used ... hackneyed ... cliched ... trite.

I'm sure Kevin thinks it's brilliant, though.

Worst. Writer. EVER.

I really might even read this one.

I too feel motivated by your hate. It does have a magical quality about it.

Not even Chigger's magical hate is enough to get me to read McDune.

So Alia, the de facto ruler of the fucking universe, will walk freely through an Arrakeen market when Paul had too hide his face inside a hood?

And now JoD will be "the direct sequel to 'Dune Messiah'" the way PoD was "the direct sequel to 'Dune'"? What a crock.

I'm sorry, but CoD is the direct sequel to DM!

I have transcended hate into a state of nausea. Reading Keith's crap makes me physically ill.

Same here. I already know that the "authors" are a notorious hack and a brain-dead yes-man. It's not like they're suddenly going to develop talent.

I'll settle for reading a few pages during bookstore visits, just like I did with Waterworms of Dune and Pauline of Dune. Then I'll be reminded of a simple fact: it's just another KJA Star Wars novel with the names and locations changed.

But, hell, Chigger, if you can handle it ... well, you've got a stronger stomach than mine. :)

If we're lucky we'll be treated to the first few chapters online. There's usually enough inconsistancies in the first chapter to make me want to vomit.

Nah, just point him in the direction of Hypatia. She'll have what he needs.
