This war may have really been about protecting our oil supply but to say they did it for the money, when they won't even make anything off it while they are in office is too conspiracy theory for me. As soon as they leave office I'm sure Haliburton won't be long in Iraq.

Halliburton is in Iraq forever now. Same reason they got in there in
the first place. As much as I'd LOVE to jump on the Cheney conspiracy,
the fact is that Halliburton is the only company, with the possible ex-
ception of Bechtel, that could actually do the job. Meaning crews &
equipment in place to be deployed. Come to West Texas and you'll
see the guys in the red firesuits everywhere. There is simply not another
oil field services company with the resources Halliburton has. Whether
this is because of past collusion with the federal government on many
different levels in many different situations is another story. The fact
remains that Halliburton is the largest, most experianced oil field services
company in the world. They got that "no-bid" contract for Iraq because
there are no other bidders.

And all the Federal troops that are pulled out of Iraq will be / are being
replaced with Blackwater mercenaries and their ilk. US combat troops
in Iraq are today equaled in number with "private security operatives",
from all over the world. You are looking at the first of the International
Corporate Wars.

There is NO WAY we could perform succesfull MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) with the number of troops we had there. That's why I say we should have done it in 1991 when we had 500,000 allied troops there.

Maybe they expected the Iraq people to be more supportive, but they broke that trust in the First Gulf War when they tried to rise up and we didn't support them.

As I've said before, just wait until China starts fighting for resources.

Most future wars will be over resources (as if they weren't before, right?). First oil, then potable water, one day it might be breathable air.

As to the original review at "Blogger News Network", there was an exchange
of the usual comments. Then I got into a fight with the admins of the site (go
figure that) and they blocked my IP. I still can't get the Firefox proxy to break
in there, and haven't checked the site on another machine, so I don't know
the current state of that thread.

Since Andy would not come back to the Blahg site to either correct or
defend his bullshit, I took the conversation to his castle :
(warning - Andy's blahg runs 100+ scripts and is so fucking bloated
my firefox threw up twice. Then put up message that said "Dude, are
you sure you wanna look at this shit ?")

I continued to post comments to his blahg, asking him to either deny or
defend the PoD review. I followed him over to Pajamas Media, and posted
similar comments on the bullshit he posts there. He mostly ignores me now.

I posted this thread after seeing "Pajamas Media" in the national
news with the Joe the Plumber thing. Having looked at that site full of
right-wing hate & bullshit, and knowing Andy was a regular "contributor",
the whole thing was ALOT more funny to me.
