The day the earth should run from this movie!!!AARRRRGH!!

The New "The Day The Earth Stood Still" is a Travesty!!! A smack in the face to the Original!!! I am stunned at how terrible it is. What ever you do, do not waste a penny on this movie.

I like Keanu Reeves, Cathy Bates, and Jennifer Connely, but they are stiff, boring, emotionless, and downright BAD in this garbage. The script is totally stupid, a reverse angle on the original.

GORT is reduced to an acronym created by the US military, and a giant bug cloud!!!!WTF!!!

Klat-eanu appears to be reprising his role as NEO, super powers and all, just shite!!

Jennifer Connely's step son in the movie is annoying, boring, and contributes nothing to the story.

Even John Cleese, a big favorite, has about 2 minutes on screen, and its a waste.

The Big Tie-Dye Balllons, or ORBS, are crap, and effects wise terrible.

I would ruin for ya, but if ya decide to dive in, it will ruin for you.

The Original is a top 5 favorite Sci-Fi of mine, and I was hoping for at least something in the ball-park, this is just bad.

Sorry had to vent,
Trang

I knew from the begining that this was terrible. I was protesting this movie from the start, and now I have proof to back me up. I told ya' Trang, your aviatar was going to be raped.

What a fuckingatrocity...This is the kind of thing that makes me want to suck on a .12 gauge. (And then blow my brains out with a colt .45)

Thanks Trang, this means a lot to me. I'll ease your pain wit hthe obligatory:

Gort! Klatuu Barrada Nikkto!

Chig, it's probably just best not to ask.

Soleman dont give them the satisfaction of self destructive behavior!!

Believe it or not, upon further reflection, I did find one mildly good thing. Nothing that could make the movie worth a shite, one of the production companies in the credits is:

"Dune Productions", a french company, had to be french didnt it, that almost ruins it, but overlooking that.

I am at work so cant get thru firewall to check this out, do they have any connection to DUNE?

Don't worry, our little runt is no Seruk Anus. ;)

Dune Productions, huh? :?

I know. I was just debating whether to tell him that "sucking on a .12 gauge" by itself would usually mean blowing your brains out, that the colt wouldn't be necessary. Then I got to wondering what he thinks the first really means ... and decided I didn't want to know.

C'mon! It's Sloey! He just is using two weapons for overkill purposes. When has he not relied on overkill to make a point?

on Trang.

Dune productions, hun?

Probably the poduction company for the next DUNE movie.

Wait...Oh shit.

And yes, the Shotgun joke was deliberate. It was meant to simulate [censored per Sandchigger's request to NOT know about how I was trying to make a funny in that "sucking on a .12 guage" equals a parody of sexual act done by females in a hetorsexual relantioship] But, I digress.

And Omphalos: What's wrong with overkill?

Yes, Sloey, I got it the first time. The point was ... you were going to be the one doing the sucking.

But no problem. What is it they say, better latent than never?

on me doing the sucking.

What a stupid point. I was just adding more humor to the already humours joke that you got.

But you have to go and ruin. Of course nobody else cares becuase nobody else either 1) though tit was funny, or 2) didn't give a damn about what you said, so, in turn, the point of this post post it stupid.

We're more alike then the oxygen in my room ever dreamed of.

Now Sloey, what have we told you about sneaking into the liquor cabinet?

Sloey makes me want to pinch his cheeks and cry "he's schooo cute" in a wibbly voice.

And FWIW - i hated this movie too. I havent seen the original, and tbh this has put me off watching (though im sure it is better).

Pretty much at the end i just thought, "is that it?".

I left the theater with a pretty big "meh." It wasn't the worst movie I've seen, but it was uninspired, lacked real plot, the kid was annoying and felt almost tacked on, and there were too many sfx in the last act that ultimately torpedoed a movie with some promise into mediocrity at best.

The original was on TV before the movie came out and I recorded it but currently don't have much desire to see it because of the lackluster presentation of the new movie. I'm sure I'll watch it eventually though.

You guys really do need to watch the original if you haven't seen it.

Sure, it's 57 years old now, and in black and white, but the message is still relevant and they handled it much better. You don't need all the modern WOW to make a classic. ;)

I don't like remakes!

From rottentomatoes dot com:

The best news about the new The Day the Earth Stood Still is that it will quickly fade to obscurity while the timeless original lives on. "

The same thing that'll happen to the KJA/BH novels!
