Greetings from Mulletsavant...

Post by mulletsavant »

Hello everyone,

I'm the poor sad sap who was pulled from Dunenovels a few weeks back like Keanu Reeves getting his head unplugged in the Matrix (minus the pink slimebath chamber)

I'm still less than halfway through the first book. So I'm a newcomer to all things Dune.

I would say I'm a very casual sci fi fan. Grew up enjoying Star Wars (the first 3 at least!) and I also enjoyed Tolkien's LOTR/Hobbit material, and the new Battlestar Galactica series is my guilty pleasure :)

However, I'm more interested in the philosophical/psychogical/religious undertones of the Dune saga. I've been practicing Zen meditation for a few years now (still very much a novice... at best) and I enjoy studying Buddhist philosophy. There seem to be many intriguing links to Buddhist thought in universe of Dune. I can't wait to explore more.

Cheers!

Welcome to Jacurutu, hope you enjoy it here. Yes, there is a lot of buddhist influence in Dune, especially as you progress through the series.

I personally feel that this message board, Jacurutu, is full of hateful folks who don't know
how to fully interact with people.

Hi. What got you kicked out of DN? I think there's still a Blaze of Glory thread around here somewhere.

I don't think I've technically been kicked out of DN yet, I was just swiped from under their noses by some unnamed "morpheus" over here who has shown me the light (but I haven't read enough of the books to have made up my own mind on the subject yet)

But this board and you guys seemed much cooler than DN

It's just a facade ;)

Seriously, we could take being cooler as a compliment, but it takes very little for a website to rank higher than Dumbnovels. The "ass-end of the internet" is a phrase reserved specifically for sites like Dumbnovels. :)

Welcome to Jacurutu!!! get your self a mug of spice coffee and relish in all things Frank Herbert!!!

Calling dumbnovels that seems to be an insult to the ass at the end of the Internet, the Internet, and the dingleberrys hanging off it!!!

I have to think of a place ..but I know that it is were corpse rapers, destroyers of the written word, Purveyers of Heresey, and greedy profiteers reside, a special place. Hell would be insulted also. I think Dumbnovels is that special place just under the left puss drenched ball of a leper, yea I think thats the place.

Good thing someone saved you from there, terrible place.

Again Welcome and look forward to your commenting on your DUNE experience. Better buckle up its one hell of a ride!!

the spice must flow...
