No USC? :?

1. USC
2. Florida
3. Utah
4. Texas
5. Any of about six teams; pick one. No "elite" Big XII South teams allowed.

USC ? I didn't think the Gamecocks did all that well this year ...

hang on, lemme check their schedule ....

That one was old when Sherman was looking for a hot time in Atlanta.

It would work better if at least 98 percent of the country didn't think of "USC" as the University of Southern California (all those national championships, Rose Bowl wins, and Heisman winners, you know).

More importantly, though ... those were supposed to be the two best teams in college football? Christsakes, USC or Texas would have smoked either one of them tonight. And, hell with it, I'll throw Utah in there, too.

For the seventh time in 10 tries, the BCS came up with at least one wrong team in the title game. What a farce.

Florida? Yawn. Time to watch some basketball.

Well, to be honest, I just clean forgot about the Trojans.

(that's what she said) (wuzza-wuzza !)

I figure Florida has to be number one because they won the damn game.
No matter how screwed up the BCS is, hell, they called it the National
Championship, and they got a trophy and everything, so ....

Utah #2 for an undeafted season and impressive game against Alabama,
who I still think was the best team this year. They just choked too often.
Plus, you've still got to deal with Utah's poor strength of schedule in
comparison to other conferences.
{And I know your opinion of THAT, but there it is ...}

Oklahoma cain't be number two, cause they choked like normal and Utah was
a better team, and they cain't be number three because 45-35

(you think you're mad at the BCS ? fucking computer put Texas outta the conference
championship with its' bullshit ...)

Which left Alabama #5, in my mind.

But you're right, USC should be up there. How about a tie with Texas for third ?

Utah:

4-0 vs. Top 25
2-0 vs. Top 10
6-0 vs. Bowl Teams
13-0 Undefeated Season

Better strength of schedule than USC.

Utah is #1. No question about it. The BCS can keep their beauty contest. We don't recognize their champion.

It's not 1975 any more, you know. :?

+++++

Utah No. 2 in final AP poll, taking one-quarter of the first-place votes. I love it when the BCS "championship" does so little to clear up the national-title picture that this sort of thing happens.

The Big XII South wasn't penalized nearly enough, though. After hearing about their "domination" since August, it's now apparent to anyone with eyeballs that Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech were complete frauds. The only team worth a damn in the entire division was Texas.

Actually, I thought that was a reasonable amount of fun for a pretty good price.

Thanks to all who entered. I'd hoped to get eight, would have been okay with six, and thought 10 would be the most we'd ever get. So ... we got eight. w00t!

(But, man, I should have insisted on some sort of wager. Pizza? Tattered copies of Dune? Five bucks from everyone? Something.)

I've got a buddy heading to Wendover in the morning to gamble
for a few days - he's got instructions to bring me back a Ute
hat, tshirt and sweatshirt, and a big foam #1 finger if he can
find it.

I've also got a buddy who's got docile longhorns they saddle up
and ride in parades. So I put the hat and shirt and finger on
and climb up on a longhorn for y'all.

Awesome! Post some pictures if you can. Wendover eh? I go there every so often. Fun place and closer than Vegas that's for sure.

I'd imagine this shit will end up on up the front page of the
county-wide newspaper before I get done....

forgot to update this -
this is why your conference sucks and will not
be taken seriously for a looooong time....

my buddy went to Wendover, Nevada - found no
souvenir anything for the Utes or UNR- just casino
bullshit -

Walked down to East Wendover, Utah - looked thru
all the Mexican conveniance stores - nothing --
asked a guy at a bar if he knew where he could get a
Ute hat & shirt - this guy, a native Utahn, had to have
the reason explained to him - you know, y'all's football team ?

blank stare - another drunk in the bar said, hold on, I got
something - went out to his car and brought my buddy back
a single earring with no back, a little enamel pin thing with a
"U" and little feather.

boys, you walk into any gas station in West Texas and you'll have
a wide array of choices of Big12 ball caps, and in a lot of places
around here or further east, alot of SEC merch. Until your average
public gets rabid about it's team, you got a lost cause ....

I've got a simple answer for you. As soon as BYU lost, they stopped paying attention.....ok, really...

That's why they call the valley here the "bubble". There are vast stretches of desert with little or no population all around the Wasatch Front. I can assure you the people here are rabid enough. But we don't really compare to Alabama when it comes to population, so sales of Utah gear won't be able to compete.

(We don't claim Wendover....except when we want to get wasted and lose a little money....The Utah side is a hole.)

And it's not like the Nevada side will ever be mistaken for Monte Carlo, either.
