That's just awesome. No, really. To even think about a response is to give it way too much credit.

Seriously, it would be nice if someone explained to those idiots at DN that fumbling your dick across the pages of a book is not considered reading.

Oh Byron, you ass-sucking toadie, just shut the fuck up already.

The fucking House books SPOIL so much of the originals. Way to ruin the experience of your supposedly beloved grandfather's work.

Asshat tool.

OUCH.

OK. Conversation overheard between two idiots....

"I prefer Leto II personally."

"Indeed ! :) Really envoyed his dialogues with Moneo and the little bit with Malky."

"Definitly. I locked onto his little nuggets of thought before most chapters, they almost reminded me of Haiku. Of course they are to long for that but I loved the wording and how quick, to the point, they are considering the scope of the thought."

Is any comment even needed?

Ah ... once again Bel Moomoo comes through, epitomizing the dizzying intellectual heights we have come to associate with Dune Novels!

dizzynovels.com Forum Index » Characters of Dune » Leto II and Mao Zedong
I saw many interesting parallels between the character Leto II and Chairman Mao Zedong (or Mao Tse-Tung; Wade Giles spelling). There's so much I can do to compare but I'm short on time at the moment so I'll leave a simple list of what I saw the 2 characters had in common; in my opinion:

1. Mao- Proletarian Movement (aka Cultural Revolution)
Mao attempted to destroy all evidence of the old China and employed neighborhood militias of orphaned teenagers to go around and destroy all evidence of the "Old China" including ancient pottery and art displayed in museums along with religious buildings.

Leto II had all the Ixian historians burned alive and illegalized Mentats. He also destroyed the old Arrakis Dune by terra-forming 90% of the planet (aside from the Sareer). Leto II employed an all female army called the Fish Speakers to carry out his demands (much like Mao's all teenage militia)

2. They both gained full controll of the economy. Mao dismantled many foreign businesses there (outside of Hong Kong) and used Stalin's idea of government collective farms and ration out food and supplies to all CCP members and potentials.

Whereas Leto II controlled ALL the spice in the universe and would ration them out.

3. They both had plans and dreams of expanding their numbers and scattering them across the world/universe.

In Mao's case the Chinese population according to statistics jumped from 500 million to 1.5 billion people in a 52 year time span thus the Chinese government had to cap the population by allowing 1 child per a family and 2 children for farmers (to work the farms and such).

Leto II triggered the scattering spreading all the numerous humans across the universe.

Not only did China have a population boom but to this day they too are scattered all over the world. In almost every large city in the world from Mexico City to Tokyo has a China Town. They also own large amounts of holdings and property in almost every country in the western world. Currently they've been pouring lots of money and labor into Africa for long term goals of sustaining an even larger population of theirs in the next couple generations.

I can hardly wait. :P

does he realize the irony that Mao was trying to create a stable society, while Leto purposefully was putting pressure on his culture and artificially suppressing it in order to create a species explosion.

Exactly. Leto II can be compared to any number of totalitarian leaders because, well, he was a dictator. Beyond that, though, I don't think there's much more to say - GEoD is not allegorical in any way to our history.

Oh ... so now she IS affiliated with Sietch Tabr?

Hmmm ... a cesspool of personal attacks against people who not allowed to defend themselves and who are mocked no matter what they say?

Oh SHUT UP about it already, you ugly fucking dole-sponging drama-queen attention whore and go diddle yourself with your joystick again while fantasizing about Tom Baker getting it on with you with a dalek-shaped dildo and fanning your sweaty self with your favorite KJA McDune book. Woof! Woof woof! Go bark up and pee on another tree somewhere.

Civil discussion my hairy, mottled ASS.

I ain't got time this mornin' to get riled up about that.

After constant PM badgering at the "Other" Sietch, I finally got
HRH to say she was "Auliya" and Hyppo is "Kantele" - altho there are
now enough spewings to be able to tell them apart.

So, Hyppo doesn't believe in inter-forum flaming and strife, but
this is a 'cesspool' and her site is 'adding content' ?

and this is an "appropriate" posting on the Dumbnovels forum ?

I've decided that HRH is alright with me - the only nagging thing is how
she's been caught up in Hyppo's web. It's going to be the downfall of
that forum.

and this should have been posted in "Sietch Tabr is Dead", so to
stay on topic :

SHUT THE FUCK UP, MERRITT !
