Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

These guys are AWESOME, found out about them when I saw them live last week. If you get bored watching this then keep skipping forward, there's a HUGE variety of stuff in there.

Not exactly something you can hum along to while doing the dishes, though, now is it? ;)

I have no idea what that really means but on listening to them I was blown away: Animals As Leaders

In case it doesn't load up the same, I suggest Tempting Time first...
Pretty good, definitely very prog. Not particularly Meshuggah-esque though, they probably just said that because of the odd time signatures and extreme detuning/8 string guitars.
Remember way back when...?

 Well then, I should listen more carefully to what you say I should listen to! Apparently I also have a terrible memory... Sometimes it just takes seeing a group live for me to really fall in love with them though. Especially stuff like this, the reality is that there are so many amazing prog-metal musicians out there that sometimes it takes me a little extra time to decide if a group is one I'm going to listen to more or not.

I like that it's not just a pile of wankery either, they actually have really great songwriting and (not in that song particularly, but in others) take a lot of time out from shredding to just concentrate on the melodic and rhythmic.

Dutch band "De Staat"... and I like it:

"... the mystery of life isn't a problem to solve but a reality to experience."

“There is no escape—we pay for the violence of our ancestors.”

Sandrider: "Keith went to Bobo's for a weekend of drinking, watched some DVDs,
and wrote a Dune Novel."

It was fun... still shocks me when people say the kind of music I listen to is weird when stuff like THAT exists though!

De Staat is NOT weird!! :snooty: ... they have released two very good albums and I think they are on the top of the food chain of Dutch talent.

Old talent: Jan Akkerman while in the band Focus:

There was also a version made especially for the US market.

Hey Focus is pretty cool - any time I hear a flute in rock or metal I'm pretty much sold!

But yes, sorry, De Staat is pretty weird - Chig even sounded like he thought it was a little weird and he spent the last decades in the homeland of weird, JAPAN.

I'm loving me some Volbeat lately. They're a Danish band that mixes a bunch of different sounds....killer.

Country music is rarely my first choice but I enjoyed that. Did they intend for the lyrics to contrast so strangely withthe honesty of the music?
