Absolutely, but they could also be a lot worse. I'm gladdened by his ability to show rather than tell as illustrated in Shock and Awe . btw, IMDB shows this movie as a 2012 release.

Is that wishful thinking from the Hack?
@scifichat Brian & I are involved in the new movie as co-producers and consultants. They've got very dedicated people all around #scifichat

If he had met with anyone involved in the new movie he would have twatted it or name-dropped it in an interview.

He hasn't.

He has zero input.

yeah you got a bloody valid point here, the fact he didn't brag about it shows he's got nothing to show for...

That's the main problem for self centered compulsive people with an inferiority syndrome, you can be sure what they tell you about them is as much as it gets(with a slight exageration)

I hope the new director and screen writer do a little research and comparison, read one of thejacket and Bobo's yawns, then let them get just close enought to beat them solidly about the head and shoulders and shew them a way!!!!

+1 and QFT.

Keith and The Sellout have already been shown to the sidelines. The only reason they'll get a credit, I'm sure, is that it's built into the contract.

They'll be learning about developments from this production he same way we will. Well, one of them, anyway ... not the man-child who is afraid of airplanes.

It is.

He had some sort of "close call" like FORTY years ago. Not a crash, not an emergency landing, but some sort of mysterious "close call." Apparently, he hasn't been back on an airplane since.

The best part is when they finally dress him up and shove him out the door to go do some promotional stuff, he does three things: 1) he takes the train everywhere; 2) he only does Pacific time zone appearances; 3) he returns to his cave at the first opportunity.

Really, it's part of the larger picture as to why many of us think Kevin does all of the writing. Bobo Herbert is included strictly for having the correct last name and to make the occasional appearance. It's Keith that writes, promotes, interacts with the sheep, maintains the blog, etc.

I'm not afraid of airplanes, but I've flown a *lot* on business for years and as the quality of service and comfort of seats (I'm 6'5) declines steadily over time, I have promised myself that when I retire I will never fly commercial air again.

If an heiress insists that I join her on trips in her Gulfstream, that's a different matter.

I have the same problem. Im 6'8" and I travel a lot too. Airplanes suck, but Bwi-Bwi has a manufactured psychosis which he uses to get attention. Kinda like a little bitch, ya know?

OH I grieve for the number of potential Dune fans who were dissuaded from investigating the books further all because Brian wouldn't grow some balls and take his father's legacy into his own hands.

I think I'd have been muuuuuuch happier if, instead of delegating the entire universe to KJA, he'd gone the Larry Niven route and let other sci-fi writers create novellas in the Dune universe that were published as collections ..... some would be crap, some would be brillaint, but they wouldn't ALL be with the same vision of an author that for sure is not Frank.

True. Scientists estimate that such a plan would have between 300 and 500 times better.*

TheKJA might fool the sheep with his ridiculous "biggest Dune fan in the world" routine, but it doesn't take much of a working brain to begin questioning the arrangement. Why Anderson? Why 11 books (with plans for something like 15)? Why is it a closed shop?

The answers, of course, all coming down to one thing: control. The sad truth is that Kevin J. Anderson — a notorious rent-a-hack X-Files novelist — is in complete control of the Dune franchise. And he's certainly not about to let go.

*I just totally made that up.

Maybe the mysterious incident is why he collaborated with the x-files hack!

flicking through Frank's Wiki page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Herbert" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Appalled by the fact you can find the living arse mentionned
Disturbed by this quote:
Production is underway at Paramount Pictures for a new film based on Dune, directed by Pierre Morel and with the participation of Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The studio hopes the remake will be a "tentpole film," and potentially lead to a new franchise based on Herbert's series
KJA and the word franchise in the same sentence??? A bit like metionning carrion and vultures...
I like the "a new franchise based on", meaning stamping DUNE and HERBERT in very big letters and on every shitpile the arseface can cough up.

Franchise means sequels. Yes... it could also mean prequels, but I don't think so. That was how this whole current film began - Bobo said in an interview that he and the hack were originally pitching the House books, but the execs told them, "Original Dune or GTFO."

Classic stuff.

Bobo: We ... gots ... books ... hurrrr.

Kevin: Ahem. What my ... colleague ... is trying to say is that we've written some internationally bestselling prequel books to Du —

Hollywood suit: STFU.

Kevin: Ummm ... huh?

Hollywood suit: GTFO.

Kevin: Wait; what?

Hollywood suit: Give me the real Dune or I will have some of my people hurt you.

Kevin: Yessir!

I could see the Legends series becoming B-movie franchise leaches, similar all the straight to DVD junk like the Starship Troopers Sequels.
