I feel like the lyrics from that country song, "I'll swear there ain't no heaven, but I prey there ain't no hell," when it comes to the 'notes & outline.'
Logically, a case can be made for them being a fiction to lend legitimacy to nuDune. Why then does the hope persist?
I talk myself into believing it's all a dream on a regular basis, because the dream won't die!
They don't exist, or if they do, there's too little to to get excited about.
Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

I may be wrong, but hasn't the story changed over time? I mean, at first it was just an outline (and maybe a couple of floppy disks?), but now there are hundreds of pages which they had to work with. I'm not sure...

Personally I hope that they exist and will someday be released to the public...Basically KJA is a childish douchebag who simply won't allow anyone to see the notes cause he's afraid that OHers will bother him further cause he didn't follow the notes. He's already admitted Erasmus and Omnius are his own creations --is it really a stretch to say that FH had them as independent Face Dancers in the notes as well, as they appear to be at the end of Chapterhouse?

It's more difficult to find interviews with matching stories than disparate ones. The "outline" ranges from a page and a half to a detailed thirty page roadmap.
The "notes" are a different matter, various interviews seem to loosely agree that Brian somehow had a box of Franks papers- then the stories diverge.
Sandwurm88 wrote:Personally I hope that they exist and will someday be released to the public...
You and every other Human share this same dream. It's the persistance of this dream that confounds me.
As I said before, it either doesn't exist or there's so little of it that it makes no difference.
For clarity, i'm talking about the outline.
I do believe there's a stash of notes that Brian is hoarding, for reasons we can well imagine.

Not every draft deserves being made into a book. If the author himself didnt do it, why should you?

I'm hoping it will be a very complex, philosophical story, several levels above
Keith's intellect, and all he's doing is proof-reading the galleys ... then, tehKJASFers
will buy it and be all like What the fuck? What is this? Where's all the pew!-pew!-pew!
and ultrasplosions?
and not understand it at all, they way they don't understand
Frank's other writing, like Dune ....

The best possible outcome, good job staying positive and giving us a little hope.

that's because you actually put effort and thinking into things, when to be a successful award-winning best-selling author, all you have to do is not much, apparently.

I personally believe they are blinded by the $$$ in their eyes. KJA is a manufacturer, not an artist, and can churn the books out "faster than guys-in-ties can write a contract".

Quality? Quality might sell, but it doesn't sell as fast as mass production.

So at this point, no matter what they might personally think about the quality of the work, they don't want to lose the cash cow KJA which means they can't risk alienating him. Given the choice of standing up to him and getting another author or quitting the gravy train, they have to double down. They chose the later.

Have you seen the present day Herbert clan on FB? Take a gander at that generation. Personally I think that Brian is a near-mindless zombie with daddy issues and Byron is fully indoctrinated to the KJA way of things. But most of the rest of them are beer-bonging buffoons who probably have not read the books. I can just see them sitting around on Thanksgiving, discussing Grand-daddy's legacy, forming their opinions after a viewing of the miniseries.

If it is the worst possible case, then I would say this: You know what, Herberts? Or whoever has the rights to the books? You could make much more money by pimping Dune out to reputable authors. But reputable authors wouldn't make a whore out of Dune. They might do Frank Herbert justice, though... if only you would think about it...
What do you think would happen it I posted that over on dunenovels? :P

yeah, he only wrote one of the most influential sagas in the history of American literature, one that spawned countless vocations, spin offs and inspired generation after generation of fans.
And then there is the OH. Do you think the Jihad and the dedication shown by our most active members would have been possible for an "alright book" ?

Or were you just trying to sound blasé to spark a reaction ?
