Watched the pilot for Dark Matter.
It felt like a show that could be really great, if it wasn't on SyFy. If it could perhaps break the mold a bit more, the characters felt too archetypal. I'm glad the twist came at the end of the first episode, the next couple of episodes could really make or break this series.
Exploring things like second chances, how much does your environment mold who you are.
It feels like SyFy didn't want to invest too heavily in this, I think it could have benefited from perhaps a 2-hour pilot and a much better special effects budget.

Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is everything I could have hoped for in an adaptation and more. I need to read that book again, and then again.

I've enjoyed it as well. Not sure if I want to read the book again until after the series.Ampoliros wrote:Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is everything I could have hoped for in an adaptation and more. I need to read that book again, and then again.
Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

I've really been enjoying the Russia Today live stream on the Roku box. So refreshing

Dark Matter continues to sit in the position just above Meh which lets me keep watching. Its getting better, very slowly.
On the other hand I started watching Killjoys as well, and man this show feels like as close to a descendant or sibling to Firefly as we are likely to ever get. Not the same dynamic, but feels like it could happen in the same verse.

"Drained, why did you think I was throwing finger grenades for the last two floors?"

I started watching Trailer Park Boys yesterday. That show is fucked up!

Two episodes into Daredevil and I'm enjoying it. It's quite a bit darker than the other MCU series.

I started a watch of the Sopranos. My parents were big time into that show, but I missed a lot of it due to law school and early career slavery.

Been doing the same with The Shield. Up to Season 7 now, and I can see why people raved about it at the time, but compared to more recent shows, I think it's merely Very Good rather than Excellent.

Suggestions where to start ... because it seems to be all over the place regarding movies and tv going back to 1999.SandRider wrote:wow, how'd you miss that one?Freakzilla wrote:I started watching Trailer Park Boys yesterday. That show is fucked up!

Is The Borgias any good? I watched the one about Henry VIII (The Tudors, IIRC) and loved it, but The Borgias seemed like a cheap knock-off. It's good?

It's not as good as The Tudors, though the third season is actually pretty entertaining.

I watch
Game of Thrones
Penny Dreadful (It's really not that good, but I watch it anyways)
The Mike Tyson Mysteries (on Adult Swim)
The Walking Dead
Continuum (kind of a dud, but with a really hot girl!)
Arrow (this show is embarrassing)
Chicago Fire (a friend makes me watch, I resisted but resistance was futile, and I actually enjoy it now)
