DN being 31 months old, and Jacurutu being 11 months old. Here are some averages (rough figures of course):

DN = 50.48 Posts per Day (down 4 since my first comparison)

Jacurutu = 100.86 Posts per Day (up 5 since first comparison)

DN has 1075 members, Jacurutu has 221 (they're up about 100 members we're up about 60). Average posts per member:

DN = 43.67 (down 1 since last time)

Jacurutu = 150.61 (up 25 since last)

Now, for the real fun, remember that since they are 3 times our age, their averages are much more stable than ours - those losses above represent a much bigger shift down than it looks like they do.

The last 4 months:

Jacurutu total posts = 13300
Jacurutu total posts per day = 110.83

DN total posts = about 2900
DN total posts per day = 24.16

So we've had 4.5 X as many posts as them in the last 4 months.

Conclusion, we're going up, they're going down. Surprised? I though not. :D
Does that include all the posts Byron has deleted?

And does the number of members here include spammers like vg'er?

(Why does that remind me of a Star Trek movie? :? )

I watched The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi last night.

I have a question from RotJ. Didn't Luke use anger to defeat Darth Vader? Shouldn't that have put him on the path to the dark side which would then forever dominate his destiny? Or did throwing down his light saber put him back on the right path?

My wife asked this while watching ESB:

If Annakin built C3PO, why is there a silver droid that looks just like him at cloud city and why does C3PO recognize him as a "familiar face"?

I told my wife that it was a comon droid model and Annakin just rewired and reprogrammed him.

Yes it does, I just took totals.

This
The last 4 months:

Jacurutu total posts = 13300
Jacurutu total posts per day = 110.83

DN total posts = about 2900
DN total posts per day = 24.16
Is pretty close to what you're talking about is it not? And yes, there's a very big difference between that and the "lifetime" averages.

Imagine if you didn't count the posts from banned people.

I had over 5,000 and I think SC did too.

Yeah. Many of mine are still there, it seems.

I don't know if the total returned by the boardware includes "guest" posts. I rather suspect it does. (Simple database query vs one totaling entries with a certain field set to a certain value.)

It does for sure, I've watched people get banned and the total post count remain unaltered.

Update time! Another 4 Months have passed (and a week actually, bit late this time), so it’s time for another update.

DN is 35 months old, and Jacurutu is 15 months old. Here are the totals:

Jacurutu total:
Posts: 48990
Members: 210

DN Total:
Members: 1157

For the first time ever, we have now surpassed their TOTAL post count! DN is substantially more than twice Jacurutu’s age, and has more than 5 times the members, but we have now officially had more activity than them, period. Because of this, the averages I usually do in this series are a bit moot, but let’s do them for fun anways!

Here are some averages (rough figures of course):

DN = 46.06 Posts per Day (down 4 since my last comparison, down 8 since my first comparison)

Jacurutu = 108.86 Posts per Day (up 8 since my last comparison, up 13 since first comparison)

Average posts per member:

DN = 41.80 (down 2 since last time)

Jacurutu = 233.28 (up 82 since last time)

Now, for the real fun, remember that since they are so much older than us that their averages are much more stable than ours - those losses above represent a much bigger shift down than it looks like they do.

The last 4 months (and 1 week):

Jacurutu total posts = 15706
Jacurutu total posts per day = 123.18 (up 12/13 from last check)

DN total posts = 1420 :?
DN total posts per day = 11.14 :o :o :o (down 13 from last check – their posts per day have been cut in half in the last 4 months alone)

So we've had 11 X as many posts as them in the last 4 months (last check we only had 4.5 X as many).

Surprised? I though not. :D

Trust me, if it hadnt'a been for Byron, they would still have way more posts than us.

Though a big part of me does love to hear about how little there is going on over there.

Actually, no. When Byron deletes posts they stay in the total post count.

Yeah, it's kind of like a post equivalent of freakbanning. :D

What percentage of the posts are by people who have been banned? That'd be an interesting statistic. ;)

I'm going to steal a KJA quote here:

"By any measure, Jacurutu is now the premier site for Dune discussion in the world!"

Man, that felt good.

(Nice research, too ... well done).

That is not how it works with PHPbb. When he deletes users their posts stay in the count. When he deletes individual posts off the boards the total post count decreases. That was the kind of deletions I was talking about. I just went over to T(A)U and tried it. That's how it works.

My mistake, now that my memory is jogged, I thought I remembered watching him delete posts and then seeing the post count remain the same, but I think I actually watched him delete members and the post count stayed the same. Whoops.

Either way, we're far beyond kicking their ass at this point.
