He He ! That guy Stilgar wrote a bashing review of Hunters on the MySpace Dune site...It's in french, but it's basically whats been said before about the book...wonder how long it will stay there...

Well, probably not long now that you've given it away. ;)

Comments there have to be approved first, right?

So I guess it's safe to say that Kim does not read French. (To not read French?! The Erasmus persona within me is aghast!)

Hey, he's posted the same message on Kevin's page, too. So Kevvy don't parle, either! ;)

(Love this: "If you don't have enough imagination to write your own works, get a new job!" Haaaaaaaaa ha ha ha! :D )

As Augustus was fond of saying IIRC, festina lente.

Make haste slowly.

I've been reading up on language contact and mixed languages for the last week or two. Figured it's better to start out on the right foot than have to go back and redo later. ;)

But I take your point. Pejoratives will feature highly in EVERY stage of the language.

So, if I can bother to make a MySpace profile, ask them humbly for Friend status and write half-illitirate praises in English and poisonous attacks in Hebrew, will they keep it?
I can't imagine they have that many Israeli fanboys.

Always worth a try...if you can stomach MySpace. :D

(Funny...I was reading about Hebrew and Cornish just this morning: two languages resurrected from the grave! Hebrew being the much more successful of the two, of course.)

Cornish is so corny...

I'm not sure I'll bother though, I do abhor "social networks"...waste of time.

As much as I agree, message boards are just as much a waste of time as most social networking websites. Only difference is most message boards force you to discuss relevant subjects, but it's still basically masturbation. Personally, I prefer message boards for the fact there's no pretense of relationships and because we are actually gathering for a purpose, not just to keep dead relationships on life support :)

If you're talking about "useless" activity, then anything other than reproducing, with eating and sleeping kept to bare minimum for sustaining the body, is useless.

But then again, I love mastrobating, so bring on the boards! :)

This here is anything but useless. We discuss and clarify matters, we worship our lord saviour Frank Herbert and pray to his reincaration in time as God Leto the Just.

And, considering all this brings us joy, it isn't useless.
The failure of "social networks" is that the nature of relations there is usually mediocre and bland, or as you said "to keep dead relationships on life support".

WELL BEYOND RUDE

I was extremely bored and hadn't had a look at Kevin's main page on MySpace for a while, so decided to have a peek to see if there were any funny silly comments from the fanboys.

I immediately noticed all the new animated gifs and banners he is displaying (nephew TAZ been busy again?) and decided to download a few for possible later fun and games.

Imagine my surprise when I could see how damned big they are: the largest, that stupid animated version of the Paul of Dune cover is 2.2 MB. (Ends with "The Direct Sequel to the First Dune Novel", btw. TAZ has obviously swallowed the official version like a big ole fat shrimp, shitline and sinker. ) Next is the banner for Kevin's Metal Swarm, weighing in at 1.9 MB. Followed by a 1.8 MB banner for Brian's The Web and The Stars. (The podship...or blue whale?...that speeds across the banner at the end of this one is worth the wait! Pure retarded joy!).

Let's see....then there's a 1.4 MB one for Book II of Crystal Boors (Yawn...with what looks like is a cameo appearance by the Creature from the Black Lagoon?) Finally there are two ribey little things under 1 MB each, for Last Daze of Krympei and Slam Bunter.

Altogether that's about 9 MB everyone who visits his page has to download. And it's not even real content. Hurray for broadband, huh?

This is why I don't visit his page or the "official" page over there anymore and just use bookmarks straight to his blog. ;)

(Dayum...9 fookin megabytes. That's RUDE.)

It sure is, does anyone know where MySpace stand regarding the use of large imagines such as this. oh look there's a pot and a spoon.....

I forgot to check where the images are actually being hosted, but they're probably not all on Kevin's photo-space. As I know you know, that would represent a significant drain on bandwidth.

After I thought about it a little more last night, I decided that this is not really a problem.

Our kind of people don't look at his page that much, if at all, to begin with.

And the thought of his little PSI fanboys having to wait for the downloads to finish gives me a wee warm feeling inside.
