I'm actually very much looking forward to TRON: Legacy but I'm terrified that it won't be as good as I imagined.

It will be the first film I see in IMAX 3D. My son has been looking forward to it with all the impatience an almost-5-year-old can muster since I first introduced him to the original about 9mos ago.

I enjoyed Tron at the time, but wonder whether I'd still think it was as good today. IIRC, was definitely relying a lot of the computer generated environments which were extraordinary for the time, rather than, say, a particularly great plot.

Some of the misused technical jargon was just hilarious, though. Bring in the logic probe!

I'm interested to see the sequel, especially since it has Jeff Bridges in it. (I would not be interested in it if it did not). But I fear that it won't live up to the original, as I suspect the original doesn't live up to the original :).

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

Don't be badmouthing Tron!

The Master Control Program has
chosen you to serve your system on the
Came Grid.

Those of you who continue to profess
a belief in the Users will receive
the standard substandard training.
This will result in your eventual
elimination.

Those of you who renounce this
superstitious and hysterical belief
will be eligible to join the Warrior
Elite of the MCP.

You will each receive an identity disk.
Everything you do or learn will be
imprinted on this disk.

The Master Control Program regrets
that it cannot be responsible for
Identity disks lost or stolen. if you
lose your disk, or fail to follow
commands, you will be subject to
immediate de-resolution. That is all.

You're getting brutal, Sark. Brutal and needlessly sadistic.
Thank you, Master Control.

Hello, Mr. Dillinger. Thank you for coming back early.
No problem, Master C. If you've seen one Consumer Electronics Show, you've seen them all.

The scriptwriting in TRON is definitely excellent, particularly the banter and the philosophical conversations. Given that it was made in 1982, the action is pretty damn solid too IMHO.

Well I haven't seen the trailer yet, but my brother-in-law was telling me about a movie trailer that he saw this past Saturday. Just the title screams Grade-G movie..... "Cowboys v/s Aliens"

I'll try to hold from forming an opinion until I see it myself but I can't shake the image of all those old cheap sci-fi movies from the 30s, 40s, and 50s.

One of the things I love about TRON is the way that characters just mumble such great lines with so little fanfare. Most other films act like a single witty line is some kind of messianic achievement and have to put it up in blinking lights like some kind of gaudy Vegas casino sign.

I'm psyched for it. Cast alone guarantees it should be interesting. Trailers look good, too.
