Most people just dont pay close enough attention. Does that make them stupid? Lazy, to be sure, but if you give them the benefit of hte doubt then you wind up only raging against them about half as much.

Half are stupid, most of the rest are ignorant. Ignorance can be fixed but stupid is forever.Omphalos wrote:Most people just dont pay close enough attention. Does that make them stupid? Yeah, SandRider was prebanned and so forth, but then y'all taught meFreakzilla wrote:Most of us got banned. That makes it infinitly easier.SandRider wrote:this whole thing has dissapointed me to no end.
I know y'all have dealt with the same thing before.
How do you keep your sanity intact?
You're right about that. But the problem is the same one I've stated here beforeOmphalos wrote:Most people just dont pay close enough attention. Does that make them stupid? Lazy, to be sure, but if you give them the benefit of hte doubt then you wind up only raging against them about half as much.
"Discussion" left town a long time ago, unless you're discussing how great Keith is.SandRider wrote:Is this a discussion board or an editorial posting with no refutation ?
Don't despair. I agree it's disappointing when you go through a lot of effort to formulate intelligent posts and they become lost in a sea of nonsense rebuttals. But don't overestimate the heat of the moment. I've had people come back to me after a good debate (sometimes even months later) and they came around on the issues. It doesn't happen often, but your words will reach a small few and will give them some insight. Even if only one person eventually comes around, you have to accept that as a victory.SandRider wrote:this whole thing has dissapointed me to no end.

How do you keep your sanity intact? It's one thing
to repost their stupid shit over here and point out the
errors, if the pretards aren't lurking at this board,
but I went to great lenghts with the katee84
posts to state the facts clearly and concisely
and end the controversy, to no avail.
it took all my willpower and give-a-damn away.
fuck them.
I dunno Chig. Maybe its just outlook. My whole career sometimes seems dedicated to cleaning up the messes that {those certain individuals} cause. Yours is to beat that kinda stuff out of them. Were just a couple a inculcated curmudgeons.SandChigger wrote:Omph, inattentive or lazy would imply that they are capable of perceiving the difference but just don't care enough to bother. (Like our itinerant misspelling artEEst?) Isn't that an even more serious indictment than just calling them stupid? Stupid in a way absolves them of responsibility...
Hmmm....
Anyway, it doesn't help the situation when you've got a total troll like arnoldo posting completely off-the-wall bullshit, just because he can.
I can't help but think of SC as Harol Ramis' character in the movie Stripes.SandChigger wrote:Speak for yourself, Sourpuss!

Hmmm. I'm pretty sure that makes you more of an inculcated curmudgeons rather than less of one.SandChigger wrote:Speak for yourself, Sourpuss!

There is no false dichotomy that either Leto II was musing about only human societies or only machine societies. Heavily machined human societies which had a plethora of thinking machines would also fit the definition of an "alien" society. Also if these alien societies also began genetic experimentation to produce man/animal hybrids, genetically modified humans, etc, then these would also fit the definition of "alien societies." Why do you insist that Leto was obviously only musing about entirely human societies?Bel Moulay wrote:

Could he possibly be seeing into the future and these alien societies are the ones from the Scattering? It seems only the Lost Ones have a common respect for Leto II. In the old empire he's the Tyrant or Shaitan but the Lost Ones refer to him as Guldur and even in Ysai on Gammu there was a gang of children; products of the scattering that would go around throwing stones at people who didn't hail "Guldur" (Leto II).
I've been working on the assumption that that's a given.SandRider wrote:FAIR WARNING : I'm-a fixin' to GO OFF.
