I'd never seen it before, we actually are testing the Netflix free trial since I uprgraded to flat screen tv (had an old CRT the tank version for years) it was time to watch some HD stuff.

It's the begining of a new era...

Hey at least now I can read the text on my games, I played almost all of Farcry3 while checking the data on my phone screen, the resolution was that bad... It's like when you take that plastic protection off and you realize that you can actually read and not guess.
I also live in a small flat and I felt the tv was more like an oversized flatmate ^^
We'll see in time how it pans out but for now I'm really pleased with it.

Cool, I hope you enjoy it (zero irony there btw). Did you go for 720p or 1080p, is it 3D ready?

I do enjoy it very much, and I didn't feel any irony, I know you must understand what it's like to have proper resolution to play games.
It's 1080p, but I avoided all the "new gadget features" like smart tv and 3D, thinking it would just put the price up for things you would not use all that much.

The only reason I mentioned 3D was and I'm assuming its the same implementation of PC monitors is you'd be getting a 120 fps display, I was talking to a chap that makes the optics for movie cameras ( pana-somthing) and I'm glad to report their moving away from 3d in favour of (is it) 48fps.

The only thing about 3d that really appeals to me is "SimulView" games - where you can do two-player split-screen... but each player gets their own full screen through the magic of special glasses.
4k resolution is the immediate future - stretching 1920 x 1080 across 40+ inches is a rubbish idea.

720i in HD looks just fine to me on my 42" plasma. I would like to get an LCD though.

DItto. My favorite was the one where Beecher gave the business to Schillinger at the end of season one with the bench and the turd.Serkanner wrote:Watched all episodes. Loved the series.lotek wrote:Oz

Re: Television Shows you are watching on TV or DVD now.
I think I missed a few episodes along the way so I thought I'd go over it, and also I've been watching documentaries on prison for some reason and I kinda ran out of stuff to watch ^^
I remember a musical number with Beecher and Shillinger (spelling wrong most likely) that was quite a thing.
Of course Game of Thrones is a must see, although I'm not sure if I won't wait until the end of the season to do a marathon (took me a while to really like it, I think I was expecting monsters and zombies right away and it put me off for a while)
Sons of Anarchy too, it reminds me of my brother telling me about the HH's compound he saw when he visited Canada, miradors, barbwire and CCTV.
Freak, the only Cosmos I know is Cosmos 1999, I guess this is something else?

I think it's four episodes in, I've really enjoyed it so far.

If it's got Seth Mc Farlane involved I feel I must give it a try

What's Cosmos 1999? Were Barbara Bain and Martin Landau in it?lotek wrote:Freak, the only Cosmos I know is Cosmos 1999, I guess this is something else?

It's funny you mention that. I started watching Space: 1999 on Hulu a few weeks ago. God, that show was aweful!Omphalos wrote:What's Cosmos 1999? Were Barbara Bain and Martin Landau in it?lotek wrote:Freak, the only Cosmos I know is Cosmos 1999, I guess this is something else?

You know, maybe the space suits were cool too. Can't remember rightly.
