Hi!
Great quote.
Which one? The Dune quote reminds me of my students...I'll be your best friend if you can tell me where the other quote is from :-) ...

I dont watch it much, but isnt Rimmer a charcter in Red Dwarf?

I believe you are correct.

Also, Hi LiquidBlue.

Yep, Red Dwarf...love that series!

So much of what FH had to say is timeless...just like the Taraza quote. The BGs from Chapterhouse are by far my fav...

IDK, I found it a bit too shallow and slapsticky to my taste, and the wittier parts a-la Black Adder were spaced too far apart.

You could be right, but it was a good laugh back in the Day.

Probably the first few seasons, I hear they were better(though I don't think I really watched the later ones).
Could be the time delay too, watching it 10+ years after production and not getting in with the late 80's early 90's spirit.

I couldnt stand the low production values. For me, that can just ruin a show or a movie.

It depends also on what you consider "low".
The Dune mini-series was said to have been low, but from what I saw it looked like the director and actors too all the cash and left nothing for a reasonable script writer, designer and on-location shooting.

Yea, Red Dwarf was almost like a student film from the look of it, but personally I can ignore it, but not the generally low slapstic it was.

Black Adder wasn't too high on money, right? But it had superb writing, even the silly low grade humor of it. And it had Atkinson. :D

I couldnt stand those either. I regularly re-watch Children, but rarely watch Dune for that reason.

Those scenes where the Fremen were running through the desert were laugh out loud silly, what with the billowing, sand-colored silk to simulate sand storms, and the garish background sets.

Though low production values are a bit of the charm of BBC productions :D

I always called it BBC's "problem."

I love seasons 1 and 2, lower production values, but much better writing...season 3 has some good moments as well...

Like I said, I think the problem with the Dune mini-series was probably the allocation of the funds and the wierd shit they accepted from their designers.

How hard and costly is it to bloody film in a desert a few shots?

You can use a studio for sietches, buildings etc, so that cuts most of the screen time anyway. All you got is a few action scenes(rather short too, it's all the necessary environment description that makes them appear longer in the book). Half an hour tops.

Prague.

The only time you can upload pictures from your machine is for your avatar, fantomas. If you want to post images you need to get an account at an image hosting site. There are several that are free, I use Photobucket.
