Thanks, HBJ, that's a lot of work and very interesting.

Four hours from start to finish, but I wasn't working on it all that time. I'd say "three, er, maybe two-and-a-half" hours ;)

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

Thank you very much. :handgestures-thumbup:

It feels a lot more comfortable to read the interview than to listen to those two morons.

BH: ... I only saw him using a yellow highlighter on copies of Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse: Dune, and um, then he passed away, and um, I knew he was writing another Dune book, but those ... even those yellow highlighted versions disappeared ...
He loans out and loses his signed copy of Dune, and then loses track of two books his father was using to prepare for his next book. Need any more proof this guy's a bit of a dumbfuck?

Remember the "If you found Brian's signed first edition, would you give it back?" poll at DN?

a pair of balls wrote:KJA: So, we did get the road map. Brian, you wanna talk a little bit more on that ...

BH: Yeah, it's just a three-page, er, maybe two-and-a-half page outline, but it's er ... it's... it's concise, we've, um ... we've ... we've added a lot, a lot to it, I mean, it was, it was more of a ... an inspiration for us in kind of a general concept, than a detailed scene-by-scene outline, so Kevin and I have, have fleshed out the characters and the scenes and, ... um, and I think, er, oh a few weeks later, I started rummaging around in my storage and I ... and I found additional general er, Dune ... Dune notes of my father's that have really helped us too. So, it was kind of amazing to have these things appear right after Kevin and I met.
1) sorry Brian but when you find something of such import and only 3 pages long, you remember the exact number of pages! I don't buy it and this is more proof of the outright lie the outline is ;)
2) "my storage"... does that mean Bribri had some potential Dune material and he had to meet the hack to magically find it?

Do they think people are stupid?
well obviously they do(and the shit they write should be proof enough to anyone)

I don't remember the thread but on the first pass of you're comment I thought it was a poll to see if you would give back a first edition signed by Brian. :)

(Wow, that poll's from back in the Ming days!)

Something I noticed in people of real talent(at least the ones I like):
- they are humble
- they are not sure why people like what they do...

That pair doesn't fit either

That's one of the biggest problems right there. People like FH have a message and they share it by weaving it into an entertaining story. And if the message speaks to people, chances are it will be successful. Hacks try to write for the masses and only idiots think it means something, because it's something they can understand.
