The Atreides Emperors probably just pulled the Harkonnen fangs by stripping them of their CHOAM holdings like Paul did to Shaddam, and left them on their poor homeworlds.

I don't recall any exports from Geidi Prime being mentioned.

GP is described as a wrung-out husk by the time of Dune, and the fact that the Harkonnens manufactured fancy wood doesn't mean it was on GP, unless that's elsewhere in Heretics that I haven't gotten to yet. In fact, I would think it wouldn't be on GP since it was such a cesspool of pollution.

I thought HoD said the forests were relatively recently planted in an attempt to clean up GP and there was still an oily residue over the whole planet.
