I've come up with a name for this brew. Since it will be Dune inspired, featuring much cardamom and cinnamon spicing, as well as all the other spices (and of course black tea) that go into making Chai tea, it will be named in honour of Shai Hulud.
This mead will be called:
Chai Hulud
as an aside, I was just thinking the other day about why the heck FH would call the spice melange, which I believe is just "mixture" in french. I've puzzled about that for years, but I wonder if it was a hint about the flavour - because the indian word for melange/mixture is masala... and chai masala is the spice mixture that goes into chai tea. Bit of a stretch perhaps, but considering that the spice is supposed to smell/taste like cinnamon (a key component of chai masala) and spice coffee is roasted with cardamom (a key component of chai masala), maybe not so much of a stretch. Don't know why I put so much thought into that, but melange has allways struck me as a totally odd name for the spice, and this is the only thing I can think of that could explain why FH used the term, he wanted to make people think of chai masala (or maybe garam masala or other masala), but didn't want to be so obvious, so he went with the french?
I'm sure Chig will kick my ass for this rant when he gets off work...
EDIT: I see he's actually online now, I might not have to wait so long for my asskicking!
