Re: The Music Suggestion Thread
Today is a rare day when I just want to hear music that screams and yells. This is heavy stuff. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Note: I apologize for links to slow websites, but YouTube is crusading against copyright infringement. Some of these songs on YouTube have the audio removed, so I linked to other sites.

Re: The Music Suggestion Thread
Beast is Betty Bonifassi's new duo. For those who don't know, Betty Bonifassi is the female vocalist that was featured on Montreal DJ Champion's 2004 debut album Chill'em All. Champion's track "Keep On" was one of my suggestions back on page 6 of this topic. Betty appears on several track on the album. She's definitely a great singer.
Anyway, good suggestions BB

Re: The Music Suggestion Thread
I few more songs I like.
Amazing Grace in Cherokee Short version
I love Native American music
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc0iGWfiSgw
I really like the pictures to this one. Song is Colors by a group called Crossfade (I believe.)
-"Anne Buckley"-,,Suil A Ruin,,
Something a little different.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_imLJAjXMiA
A little fun on stage.
Bon Jovi - It’s My Life
Love the song, but also the pics are great also. It’s hard to describe the feeling one gets when you stare down the flame knowing it’s up to you, your brothers (and/or sisters), your equipment, and the training you’ve had to put a stop the dancing monster in front of you.

Can't say I've heard much, but this was featured on a Lisa Gerrard soundtrack - exquisite vocals - Ulali - Mahk JchiEyes High wrote:I love Native American music
Here's something comparable from Bulgaria, believe it or not - Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares - Polegnala E Todora
But then some women sing every part themselves - Miriam Stockley - Homeland
Lastly some Armenian Duduk playing - Djivan Gasparyan- Eshkhemed - that instrument gives me goosebumps every time.

BSG fans represent! The rest of you can enjoy this as well, I think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ka_sHy9cVH0
Unless you bought the Greatest Hits CD, America missed this one by Queen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iw3izcZd9zU
What suggestion thread would be complete without some Zappa? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg6X2hsl52E

Re: The Music Suggestion Thread
Couple more of Opeth; just got this dvd myself.
Gentle song, Face of Melinda
Love the outro riff to this one, sends shivers down my spine.
Bit heavier , Under the Weeping Moon
Umm... Twin guitar melodies in this one are amazing.
Edit to add: Afraid that last one ends about 10-15 seconds early presumably due to the length limit on Youtube, sorry.

Re: The Music Suggestion Thread
Sev. Thank you. Those were some beautiful songs.
Oth. I absolutely LOVED the vid of Stravinsky Conducting his Firebird. Classical music can be so soul inspiring.
That one from Queen was one I had never heard before from them.
Cyn. I couldn’t open Face of Melinda nor Under the Weeping Moon. Not for sure why but this was the message I received when I clicked on them.

Fixed. Should work now. Enjoy!
Also Eyes High, I enjoyed the video with the percussionists and violinist. Especially the percussion solo at the beginning (well, duo...).

When the Queen chords came in towards the middle, my face did this:Baraka Bryan wrote:new song released by Muse - United States of Eurasia... starts rather mellow, does some Queen-esque building to the climax, and ends with a neat little surprise that had me speechless. I'm going back home this weekend, grabbing my Chopin Nocturne book, and playing good ol' #2 Matt Bellamy + Chopin = Epic Proportions of Win
All in about two seconds, too. I'm very efficient with my facial expressions

Re: The Music Suggestion Thread
Definitely spotted the Queen influences in the Muse song, but for me that singer... especially when he started the Eura SIA SIA SIA parts...
Here's one I meant to put up awhile ago:
Billy Cobham - Stratus
This guy is so smooth on the kit.

Re: The Music Suggestion Thread
Gotta read through the thread, my good man.
Don't care for Lit, Sum 41 or Weezer, but I do enjoy Green Day, AC/DC and of course I adore Led Zeppelin. I don't think I've done a list for this thread, so I'll make up a listing of favorites to give you some idea of what I like. I know people typically hate to catagorize music by decade (including myself), but I just find it easier for everyone else. Chronological listing also has the advantages of highlighting the fact that I'm very critical of music from the 1980s, which is easily my least favorite decade
Up to and including the 1970s
Classical
AC/DC
The Animals
The Beatles
Billy Holiday
Bob Marley
The Doors
Fleetwood Mac
Janis Joplin
James Brown
Jimi Hendrix
Johnny Cash
Led Zeppelin
Miles Davis
Nina Simone
Queen
Ray Charles
1980s
Depeche Mode
Guns N' Roses
The Police
Metallica
New Order
The Tragically Hip
U2
1990s
Elliott Smith
Green Day
Jay-Z
Jamiroquai
Massive Attack
Nine Inch Nails
No Doubt
Oasis
Rage Against The Machine
Soundgarden
Radiohead
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Roots
Stereophonics
The Tea Party
Theivery Corporation
The Verve
2000s
Bloc Party
Broken Social Scene
Champion
Coldplay
Franz Ferdinand
Interpol
Kayne West
Metric
The Strokes
The White Stripes

Liquid Tension Experiment, instrumental music:
Paradigm Shift
When the Water Breaks - Part 1
When the Water Breaks - Part 2
Those last two are one song but seperated due to time restrictions on YouTube. Probably best to listen to that one first (if you have the time ) its the better of the two. I especially love that solo at 2:54.
Enjoy!
(And yes, its called that because a band member's wife's (partner; whatever) water broke during recording.
