I recognize the face, because one of my satellite channels is pushing "Gossip Girl" now. (No, I haven't. If I ever get that desperate for something to watch, I'll sit in front of a mirror and chew off my own right nut.)(And yes, surprisingly, I am that limber.)(And no, I'm not going to tell you how I discovered that fact.)
Speaking of religion , battle-axe Becky "My crotch is a DMZ since the D&C and I'm still more man than any of you!" Anderson was ranting this morning on CNNj about some 13-year-old kid with lymphoma whose mother has absconded (I love that word) with him to avoid court-ordered chemotherapy treatments; family belongs to some syncretic Roman Catholic/Native American group (read: cult) that only believes in natural healing. Big hooplalalah, "the State shouldn't have the right!", blah blah blah.
I watched it and thought, fuck the stupid parents, let them do what they want. When the kid dies, it's their fault and they have to live with it. The State and courts should mind their own damned business on this one. One less wingnut to grow up and ... do wingnut shit.

His language was the only thing I disliked. But I know that to many that was what made him so funny.

Sorry if his cursing offended you Eyes, wasnt my intent, Carlin is long time favorite. Its funny you mention language.. He is all about language.. the in's and outs of his routines are hilarious.. if you get passed some of the graphic nature.. but again the graphic nature is language too:)Eyes High wrote:His language was the only thing I disliked. Overall his idea's about what is percieved vs what is real is the cool part of it all, regardless if you agree or not, stops and makes you think.
Just my opinion of course, but didnt meant to offend, ment in good gesture:)

Re: They have the new Paul?!
No I wasn't offended by the links being put up. I've heard his stuff before. And I agree he does make some very good points. Just me personally, but I like the comedians who can get their points across without so much 'foul' language a little better than those who think they need it to get the message across. At least he is no where near as bad as...what was his name?... Andrew Dice Clay. Now there was one that I did not like, even before I was saved.trang wrote:Sorry if his cursing offended you Eyes, wasnt my intent, Carlin is long time favorite. Its funny you mention language.. All though he was before my time, Red Skelton was (and still is) my favorite.
Hey, believe it or not, I even listen to Jeff Dunhum sometimes. (sorry if I have misspelled anythng)

Re: They have the new Paul?!
I appreciate George Carlin's use of profanity as part of his unforgiving analysis of societies' foolishness. In fact, his use of profanity is itself a clever treatise on the ridiculousness of social norms in language. One word is "good", another is arbitrarily "bad" with no real reason why. His "Seven Dirty Words" remains a classic of social satire.
As for Andrew Dice Clay, no one liked him. No one of consequence

If you like comedians without profanity then give Bill Bailey a go. This is from the Part Troll dvd. The world is a happier place with Bill Bailey.

Excellent idea. He'd look great in that duelling scene with Janis in his Fremen underpants -Freakzilla wrote:But we DO have two Religion topics.SandChigger wrote:Yeah, but you're the Ultimate Admin.
At least we don't have two or three casting threads. Like DN.
As for casting Paul...
They should get the guy playing Kevin Bacon's role in the remake of Footloose!. That'd get the teenage girls in a seat to see Dune.
I really don't know anything about the actor, nor have I ever watched "Gossip Girl" (not that I would admit it, even if I did) but he looks like he could pull of the 15 to 18-year-old transition.
He's got the hawk-nose and oval face too.
