Post by Tio_Holtzmann »

I found this forum via DuneNovels, and being a huge Dune fan I thought I'd register.

I'm 19 and currently live in Biloxi, Mississippi. I'll be moving to San Antonio, Texas in several weeks though.
My favorite Dune character is Tio Holtzmann(from the noncanon Encyclopedia, not the Butlerian Jihad series) and Miles Teg. Like most fans I find Frank Herbert's writing style far superior to his son's and I do enjoy the 6 books by him much more than the others written by Brian, but I still think they're an interesting read.

I read Dune when I was fourteen and I loved it. Since then I have read and acquired the other five books written by Frank Herbert, both prequel trilogies written by Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson, the two books to finish the Dune saga, and the Dune Encyclopedia which is probably my most coveted possession.
I saw the Dune movie and the miniseries but was never a big fan of either.

Frank Herbert is by far my favorite writer, and not just for the Dune series. I own a copy of The White Plague which I greatly enjoy, and I'm going to head to the library soon to get Hellstrom's Hive once I finish reading Stranger In A Strange Land.

I would say that my passion for these novels may at times cross into fanaticism, and I think if there was a Dune Jeopardy I'd take them for all they're worth.

Thanks for clearing that up; makes it easy to say this:

Achlan wasachlan! ;)

the other[ book]s written by Brian ... I still think they're an interesting read
Well ... the jury is still out on just exactly how much Brian really writes, but yeah, "interesting" is one word you could use. (I imagine having all my legs pulled off and my eyes gouged out would prove an "interesting" experience. :D )

Omph, your avatar reminds me... I was in Microcenter buying some computer stuff and they had Albert Einstien action figures in the check-out line. I'd have gotten one if I wasn't already spending too much.

Howdy Tio_Holtzmann, nice to meet you.
As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hypatia approaches one.

Hi.
In memory of Perach, who suffered and died needlessly.

I wish I could have been with you that one last time.
