The Jesus Incident

Post by Laphtiya »

Just come back from the second hand bookshop again, and picked up a copy of The Road to Dune and the Jesus Incident. I've been looking for this for a long time now. I'll start reading it after I finish House Harkonnen, I am on the last chapter now, if I wasnt I would just stop reading it now lol

A fine book you should enjoy it. I don't know why, perhaps it was my frame of mind at the time, but I found the opening chapters hard going.

hmm yes the Scream Room... I wanted to scrape my eyes clean after that encounter.

I didn't like it much, I guess I expected more like D:V. It's inhuman, alien and weird. It has good points though.

I picked up a copy for 40 cents at a thrift store yesterday!

Surprisingly, I've never read any of FH's non-Dune books. Usually, when I like an author, I read everything I can get my hands on. Don't know why I was never interested in the rest of Herbert's work.
As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hypatia approaches one.

Pandora books are usually pretty plentiful round here. Good luck finding Destination: Void though - been looking for that for years now.

Worst case scenario you could abebooks them.. but it ain't the same is it... or is that just me :P

I've been looking for a copy of Destination: Void for a little over a year but I can't seem to find it anywhere in local stores or online.

I got a used copy through an Amazon reseller a few months ago.

I just checked, and they have plenty of the paperbacks listed. Prices are all over the place. The cheapest looks like $1.47; the most expensive over $42.00.

Unfortunately I've only ever been able to find The Jesus Incident and The Dosadi Experiment. I found TJI to be pretty good, though it took a while to get in to. Though that could be because I quite like Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.

Also I thought the end was pretty great.

I read that book 20+ years ago, and just did not like it (or the Lazarus Effect). :puke:

I guess even a great writer can drop a literary bomb once in a while too...

I did enjoy The White Plague though, and would suggest you read that if you have not already....

Gosh - How does a self styled linguistic GOD like you mistake "didn't like it" for too difficult? You are slipping Chiggie... Or... Could it be?

No! I cannot imagine you twisting my words purposely, for malicious intent...

Not my best bud in the whole frigging universe! :tissue2: :tissue2: :tissue2: :tissue2: :tissue2: :tissue2: :tissue2: :tissue2: :tissue2:

one of the primary arguments I have against you pretards is that if you consider
theKeith's "writing" to be good or even acceptable, you have extremely poor judgement
in literary matters, and your opinion therefore is suspect at best.

and most of us here have read Plague, but again, your opinion of literature is worthless.
the fact that you "enjoyed" it is trumped by the fact you also "enjoy" tehKJAcket. (in Texas,
and elsewhere I've heard, it's said "You wouldn't know your ass from a hole in the ground.")

finally, this "20+ years ago" comment - assuming you read these things in your teenage years,
this puts you well over thirty, maybe even forty. If so, you're really, really dense & retarded
for a man of that age. Or you really are a young 20-something jackoff, & full of shit.

Oh my g-d, why do you do things like that ?
It would have been just as simple to say :
"According to his Myspace, he's 44" and left
it at that. I was compelled to follow the linky,
and .... my eyes !! MY EYES !!!

and does this thing say he's not a HS graduate ?
but has "some college" ?

and his interests :
"Reading, Writing, Photography, Medieval History,
Science,Science Fiction, Philosophy, Politics, etc. I could go on all day... "

yet :
"(No, spelling is not a strength of mine. Deal with it)"

THIS is The Jacket's fanbase ?

:) :D   :) :? :( :? :x

Keith and Bri-Bri are "top 6 friends"!

That's so sweet.
