he just doesn't get it yet - kinda like Simon.
maybe we need a Litany Against Trash ....
say it over to yourself, Boba:
Frank Herbert's Dune = Masterpiece of American Literature
Kevin's noDune = shitty Star Wars fanboy trash
I think the main problem is, as with Simon, he likes

Welcome to the forum, and I hear what you're saying about it being amusing trying to reconcile the new books with the originals, but most of us have already done that to some extent while forming our opinions on how the new books cannot be reconciled with the originals.
For example: Hunters and Sadworms make it very clear that the "furthest reaches" of the Scattering is within this one galaxy.
Of course, the authors don't know that they made that point, but they did none the less by having the "enemy" be found within this galaxy; the enemy that was supposed to have been found out in the Scattering after over a thousand years (I assume, I don't know if the text specifies exactly when the Matres found the enemy) of foldspace expansion.
That the empire was already multi-galactic before the Scattering didn't cross the authors minds, and the idea that the enemy could be found both at the edges of the Scattering and within the oldest part of the old empire - well, they don't seem to understand the problem with that. It cannot be reconciled, period. Game over. They loose.
After a couple of mental exercises like that it gets pretty tedious trying to reconcile any of their work with FH's.

Hi there, shit disturber
Just kidding. Welcome to the forums.
Seriously, I understand you're trying to reconcile the obvious conundrums created by the KJA/BH novels, but personally, I'd say your time and effort are worth better.
I think you'll also find that when it comes to entertainment, most people don't care about continuity even when they should. All people want is good product, right or wrong. Ultimately everyone, including the people making more books/movies, will ignore continuity or throw it right out the window. Many examples come to mind like the reboot of the Batman franchise, the restart of the James Bonds films, Battlestar Galactica re-imagined, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.
So why bother trying to reconcile the lousy KJA/BH prequels to the original Frank Herbert Dune books when in a few years everyone will just ignore the new books anyway, if most haven't done so already (I know I have)? To my mind, the issue is not so much that merging the KJA/BH books to Dune is a problem legitimizing the awful prequels (but it is a problem, IMO). I'd say the much more important issue is that reconciling prequel trivia isn't worth your time and effort doing so. You are worth better, as is your time and effort; that's pretty much the bottom line.

Thanks, Eternity and Gameplayer, for being reasonable in your treatment of the issue. It should have occurred to me that you've all been through this before...
