The look on the woman at the French place's face when she sees us walk in—sees me walk in with HIM...AGAIN—makes me think something similar probably runs through her mind as well.

In memory of Perach, who suffered and died needlessly.

I wish I could have been with you that one last time.

HEY! I think we missed a quote for this thread!

Just noticed it when rereading the "Gang of Four" meeting passage looking for Navigator descriptors:
FH in DM wrote: "I wish to discuss our mode of giving Hayt to the Emperor," Edric insisted. "It's my understanding that Hayt reflects the old morality that the Atreides learned on his birthworld. Hayt is supposed to make it easy for the Emperor to enlarge his moral nature, to delineate the positive-negative elements of life and religion."

That's Paul Muad'Dib Atreides learning something on Caladan, his birthworld according to Duniverse creator Frank Herbert, since supposedly, according to The Hacks Twain, he would only have been on Kaitain as a babe in swaddling clothes.

Ignoring their PoD revisionist in-universe-text bullshit, this is Edric, a Guild Navigator, talking to a group of people all of whom would be in a position to know the real story.

Feh.

And what are the blacks doing? Just sitting there doing nothing?

I've seen it, I just didn't find it memorable. The novelty of cartoon that uses profanity wore off quickly for me.

Now, put Chef's salty, chocolate balls in your mouth.

while I was in the hospital I read the "Dreamer of Dune" copy
I got from goodwill books thru g-damazon.com for $4 so I
could play on their message board.

I'll be posting about that extensivley, I fear, I marked the hell
out of it as I read it - in short, tho, and I've got to get the timeline
in my mind, but it seems to me all the problems with the noDune
books can be laid directly at the feet of Keith J. Hackerson.

I found so many passsages that Brian wrote that were then
directly contridicted in the what you guys say are in the new
books. So I think Keith changed up the story, and Brian was
just too pussy-minded and intimidated and weak-minded to
voice opposition.

Anyway, what brought that on was that I read the passage about
the boat, "Caladan", which I believe Chigger pointed out earlier
in this thread. And my demerol-drip just reset, so I got another
bump. You folks are in for some shit on this board, I'll tell you
know.

YIPPEE! He's back. And whacked!

Let 'er rip!

(Actually, I think other people pointed out the boat thing. I've skimmed around the book—and found that passage—but have yet to read the book from cover to cover. Probably never will: Brian sucks as a writer.)

he does, I plan a g-damazon.com review of it on that point.
I've read a lot author's biographies, and many by sons or
relatives of the author, and Brian failed on a number of levels.

I've been wanting to read that for years, for information puposes only, of course.

Any chance of it accidentally falling into the scanner?

That's a fact. I read it last year. I'm really curious what you make of it, Sandrider. Let's hear it!!!!
Me, I thought it was mind-numbingly boring at times. He describes every little thing Frank ate and drank at totally uninteresting family dinners.
And I got sick of the same repetition of phrases that plague the Dune-lite novels.

I will hit my head against the wall if I ever again read the prequelite explanation of "Irulan wrote it...blah, blah, blah." (I have just read the whole thread on dunenovels that discusses this) That trio byron, KJA/BH want to make us believe that the notes are canon, but as you masterfully wrote, notes are just general sketches that one can use, incorporate later or dispose of.
Freakzilla wrote:This one does it for me:

The Duke looked at him. "This will be your first time off planet," he said.
"Yes, they're big. We'll be riding a Heighliner because it's a long trip. A
Heighliner is truly big. Its hold will tuck all our frigates and transports into
a little corner -- we'll be just a small part of the ship's manifest."

Duke Leto comments that their trip to Arrakis will be Paul's first time in space.

He didn't qualify it with, "that you remember" or "except for your actual birth".

It would be like the first time you let your kid stay the night at Granny's house, it's a big deal.
Only the books written by Frank Herbert are canon.
