DUNE Graphic Novel Coming in Nov by McDuo

Post by Sardaukar Capt »

Found this on Amazon while looking for any new hardcover releases of Dune to coincide with the movie. Unfortunately its by the wonder twins so I'm a bit worried they are going to add their own embellishments and not stay strictly to the novel's scenes and dialogue.

I'm not thrilled either with duo they picked to illustrate it when I looked up their previous comics work.

The name Atreides was also consciously chosen. It is the family name of Agamemnon. Says Herbert, "I wanted a sense of monumental aristocracy, but with tragedy hanging over them--and in our culture, Agamemnon personifies that."

Ghanima said. "We Atreides go back to Agamemnon..."
Distracted, Irulan asked: "Who's Agamemnon?"

With those two names on the cover it is a no-go for me in any case.
"... the mystery of life isn't a problem to solve but a reality to experience."

“There is no escape—we pay for the violence of our ancestors.”

Sandrider: "Keith went to Bobo's for a weekend of drinking, watched some DVDs,
and wrote a Dune Novel."

Now they are doing a Dune: House Atreidies comic. McDuo are going to milk the movie for all its worth. And of course they are writing the comic also.

I am so glad I had a root canal treatment today. I can deal with that better than with reading any of the Atrocities.

I don't think you could classify anything that pair does as 'writing'.

"Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s adaptation retains the integrity of the original novel"

Why I am I not entirely convinced by this statement?

The fact that they need to make this statement at all is very revealing.

Hard pass on this one.
