Found a shit load of old CDs in my garage as I was cleaning it out recently, including a bunch of old Tom Waits stuff. Mostly his old drunken piano-man years. Good stuff. I thought I had sold these discs when my wife and I were poor and needed the cash. Back during our guvmint cheese years we sold everything that was not nailed down. I was really glad to find them.

Tom Waits ... I love his voice. I am glad you still have those CDs.

a few years ago I put up a video of my favourite Dutch band ( of international quality in my opinion ), De Staat. Last week the released a new album, so I also listened to the previous ones. And I remembered this video. Even If you don't like the music ( the song is an ode to Dutch Hardcore House music of the late eighties and early nineties ), the video is really worth watching.

EDIT

The same song now Live!!! And with me in the mêlee! Can you find me?

In the late Seventies when I was still a kid I heard this song for the first time. At the time I had no idea how influential for the next decades the song and the band would be. Share some dear memories with me.

In the early Seventies, influenced by Velvet Undergroud in Boston the band Modern Lovers (1970-1974)was formed. It wasn't until their break-up in 1976 when their only album was released. A band that can be labelled as proto punk ... and I just "discoverd" this ... in 2016 ... only forty years later, but I love it.

Some darkwave (I think, I'm not so familiar with these genres):

Kinda reminds me of Mass Effect.

Yeap..

The SNL version. .

I use to have the LP album with that song and several others like it. .think my brother and I tried to drive each other crazy seeing who could play them the most. It's a wonder we didn't scratch the record.

Heard this before realising it was a cover. I prefer this version in the end anyway.
