Long time lurker (Jacurutu seems to have a bunch of those!), should have joined years ago.

The original books (as well as the encyclopedia, to some extent) are masterpieces that have greatly influenced every fiber of my being. I'm also a mod on r/dune (same username) - I assume there's at least a few of you who frequent that sub.

So, hi - I'm excited to be a part of what strikes me as the most legit community of Dune fans and experts online!

Makes sense, and good to know. Yeah, I've caught up a bit regarding the sordid history of the defunct DN boards - sounds like the full story of what happened there could fill up a couple of no-rooms at least. Delightfully ironic in light of the lessons the myth emphasizes about power and its inevitable abuse...

I, too, believe in that approach; 95% of the modding I do on r/dune consists of obvious duties when porn or spam is reported or clearly visible on the front page.
By and large, a sietch can and should regulate itself, I think.

Hello there Ladies and Gentlemen:

New here, and new to Dune entirely. Just started reading, and met Mandy on another board unrelated. She told me about this place. Thought I would come on over. I downloaded all of the Dune books, including 7 and 8 by Brian. She told me they suck, to put it bluntly. They were on the Internet Archive for free, along with the other six, so I got them. But apparently you all hate them. Are they TRULY that awful? I think when I am done with the six, I am going to have to read those two just to see how bad they truly are.

Anyway, I am glad to be here! By the way, the official Dune site has a forum that is completely Out of commission. It actually tells you to come back later. So apparently they are really messed up beyond repair. Just thought I would point that out.

Anyway, just thought I would pop my head in. Peace.
