2008 Adaptation Costume Design

Post by Redstar »

Turns out one of my favorite costume designers Joseph Porro worked on the unproduced 2008 version of a Dune adaptation.

2008? Which adaptation attempt was that? Not the Berg attempt, correct? I think that was 2010.

Any more information on the 2008 attempt?

Joseph's site only provided the date, so I didn't want to specify it as the Berg adaptation. It very well could be. Productions last a long time and at this point they might not have even had an attached director until Berg a couple years later.

Weird hats scream 'The Future' in Hollywood apparently.

As my other half called the 2000 miniseries "Funny Hats of Dune".

Regardless, I like the Fremen designs, as well of that of the Emperor. A rather Persian, though appropriate, look for him.

People – and in particular the upper classes – have worn a variety of weird hats and headdresses throughout history, so this seems no more than realistic. The costume designs look pretty bad otherwise though, IMO.

Typical for Hollywood. They make a remake of a prior film - or rather borrow elements from them - rather than adapt the work themselves.
