a Word from the Watermaster ....
quite awhile back (years now, maybe) I began the OH Tradition
of Claiming the Water of Wanderers as they stumbled in ...
I have slacked off on this, for several reasons ...
the first & primary reason is that the Saitek Cyborg game-controller
I had loaded the macro for "your water is ours &etc" onto crapped out,
and has been replaced with a Razer Nostromo, and I have yet to figger
out how to set-up long text macros like that .... & fuck me if I'm actually
typing out "Welcome. Your Water is Ours." all the damn time ....
but also, TWO: I've really become hesitant to Claim Water on just any
asshole that breeches the Water-seal .... (the Dukester put this in my
head a long time ago ... he would not welcome anyone in the
"Introductions" forum, because it was even-money that the Newbie
would turn-out to be an asshat ... & the Duke don't take no even-money
bullshit ....)
so ... to any recent new-comers whose Water I have not Claimed for The Tribe,
donot take this as a slight ... and anyway, it's is 50/50 you'll turn out to be
an asshat, and I would have regretted taking your Water on Faith ....
so, as time & motivation allows, I may in fact go-back over the Intros
& Claim Water ... & I may not ....right now, I'm not nearly as drunk as
I thought I was, when going back-thru this forum seemed liked a "Good Idea" ....

I hadn't noticed the drop off in water claiming but that post should be required reading for all new members.
I for one like to try and at least say hi just so they know that this place is active and has people around reading posts unlike other Dune forums.

I think it's a good tradition here and I hope it continues for a long time.

I don't think the author should make the reader do that much work - Kevin J. Anderson

There’s an unwritten compact between you and the reader. If someone enters a bookstore and sets down hard earned money(energy) for your book, you owe that person some entertainment and as much more as you can give. - Frank Herbert

As I read your rambling up there I began thinking --- I don't remember you ever claiming my water. So I went back and found my introduction thread-- Dang that was a long time ago-- and heck I sounded naive. At least I have remedy one thing from my intro.SandRider wrote:quite awhile back (years now, maybe) I began the OH Tradition
