Health Care Law is Upheld--- Nexus Ahead?

Post by Jodorowsky's Acolyte »

So, the President of House USA's law has been upheld by the Supreme Court, with the most unlikely swing-vote Judge uphelding it as a tax. Insurance companies are now required by law to give health insurance to citizens, and a citizen may choose to accept or deny the health care if he/she chooses to accept it. That means the insurance companies will supply the health care, not the government, and it may benefit a whole lot of people. As is expected, the Reps/Conservs are in a feeding frenzy, and political commentators from all sides often discuss the act simplistically without understanding the full benefits of the act.

On point, I've noticed that even though this is big news, the Cast Out haven't discussed it. So let us call upon a Water of Life ceremony, and predict the repercussions the law. Will it lead to more convenient living, or to a Romneyan Jihad against ObamaCare?

We have been discussing it, just not the Supreme Court opinion.

Who is the Yankee Federalist Abomination? A hybrid monstrosity of Alexander Hamilton and John Adams dressed up like a Civil War Yankee soldier? What do the Federalists have to do with the Health Care ruling? They died out awhile after Hamilton got shot by Aaron Burr! They're not making a comeback, are they? Like the thinking machines in HUNTERS OF DUNE? (NOOO!)

I think it is a South vs. North kind of thing. Hence, the stalemate. In the mean time, while we fight each other, only those with Medical Insurance would be able to go to the Doctor. The rest is going to the Emergency Room and incure an astronomical medical care? cost that is going to be paid by ALL taxpayers. I think we need to be compassionate towards people who work, legal or illegal immigration status. It is very easy for people who have been blessed by G-d, or thru their own efforts, and have Medical Insurance, to not think of the Millions of people that do not have this ensurance. Never mind the people who have an illegal immigration status. The millions of Anglo-Saxons that do not have Medical Insurance are caught up in a web of deceit, or as seen above, plain Apathy.

Why do they have to be anglo-saxons?

I have medical insurance and I still can't afford to go to the doctor.

Because is the ruling class?
The majority voter.
Anglo//Saxon and their brethren, still are a majority vote. I think.

I do not, I needed a Doctor a while back. It is very hard to be sick, and not have a Doctor.
Please, don't anyone mention Public Hospitals/Medic-Aid, I still believe that I didn't come to this country to be on Welfare
It is very hard.
If you think that it is stressful your situation, I know it is, I was there, now I do not have medical, can't afford to use it even if I had it, and I need it real bad. What do I do?

You Freak, you need to think, well you know what makes you tick, if your not healthy the tick gets dimmer, get healthy, at least physically/anatomically.
By the way, thanks for the summaries in the reading group. :D :D :D

Why is that? Doesn't it cover gp visits?

No. I pay a 'negotiated full price' for regular office visits. About $100 per visit. I have a $6,000 deductible. So, if I go to the doctor 60 times THEN my co-pay kicks in.

However, everything considered 'preventative' is fully covered. All my kids well visits, yearly physical, etc.

But, I'm paying $450 a month. So, my insurance is only good for me if something catastrophic happens.

I've applied for Veterans Medical a couple of months ago... Glad I'm not counting on that.

6000 dollar deductible! I though my company's health cover deductible of 500 quid was steep.

Gp visits are free at point if use in the uk. They're provided by the nhs.

Amazing thing. Law's effecting my life already, and I didn't even know it. I would have been disqualified from dental and health insurance because of my age (mid twenties), but I'm not being kept on it. My mother, who recovered from cancer a few years years ago, is not going to be disqualified by the company for what would be a pre-existing condition. I'm glad that it is giving a good effect so far. It's not expensive or government owned, so this health care is cheaper than it would be in Sweden. Since it is business regulated, it'll keep the companies in business, which would make pro-business people happy, right?

Well, they still seem convinced that we're using the model of the Soviet Union, so that's kind of weird... :?

By the way Freak: I empathize with you, man. Two people I knew were former soldiers: my best friend who was a Marine, and a fellow student who helped me out at Disability services. The second guy was, and maybe still is, in a similar predicament as you. He has military health care, and because it's such a long waiting list, it takes a while for him to get an appointment. My best friend hasn't had any recent ailments, but he is struggling with what he can get from the military to support going to school and supporting his family. I hope both of them will get better health care. Considering what you've been through, being an experienced Fremen warrior and all, I don't blame you being embittered with the available governmental/social institutions. It's tough being a Fremen Warrior who's dependent upon water-fat morons for their survival.

Since the US spends between 1.5 and 2 times the money on health care that the United Kingdom and Sweden do (both, I think, with very 'purely' government-operated health care systems, instead of some hybrid as in most European countries), I don't think it's proven that government-owned health care would be more expensive.

The only thing our government does well is kill people.

When I signed on, I got as far as choosing my security questions... which there were none of in the drop down menu to chose from. I don't think that has anything to do with popularity.

How many millions did they have to spend on this? Three years to prepare?

I was finally able to create a user account, after being told twice that the answers to me security questions were in the wrong format (all lower case letters with no spaces).

Then I was sent an email confirmation... and two spam emails. I followed the link to confirm and then was told to log in.

Clicked the "forgot username password" and entered me info and email (twice)... nothing.

Due to popularity, I'm sure.

So I take it that your documenting your reoccurring difficulties with getting an account established at the government health care website? I heard about the site being not quite user friendly and buggy from The Daily Show. I hope the website starts behaving itself and stops messing around with you. I'll send fifty of my finest Fremen warriors correct the site's faulty programming for you, Chief Freakzilla.
