Post by LINFANG »

Flipping through youtube I found this video and pictures and thought.. wow those look like Sandworms, just in water! And when you thought Jonah and the Whale was bad. The pictures do more justice then the video.

I wholeheartedly feel you on this one.

I've been watching a lot of documentaries about marine ecology lately, particularly about whales. Their plight has rekindled my concern for the welfare of our planet and its bio-diversity.

A quote about Frank Herbert from some Dune memorabilia I recently acquired:
One of his major interests is turning his six wooded acres into an Ecological Demonstration Project, with the object of showing how a high quality of life can be maintained with a minimum drain on the planet's total energy system.
Let us not forget that Frank Herbert was also an ecologist, or what he stood for.

I believe that if he were still around today, he would be an avid supporter of organizations like Sea Shepherd, a group that risks their lives and reputations (in Japan they are commonly believed to be terrorists) in order to save endangered whales from a certain slaughter.

How does that saying go about when good men do nothing....
Haven't read either of the Dune 7 books yet, so please don't spoil any details for me!
