Sparafucile

Post by sparafucile »

Hello all. Resurfacing again :D

I keep meaning to try to get back into the whole dune discussion but I find it very hard, especially after I haven't read the books in a long time. But I'm trying to reread them (halfway through GEoD.. best of the bunch) and hopefully I'll begin to contribute something.

Though I rarely post, I read the various dune boards y'all post at daily (DN, TAU, Jac, Fed2K, etc) when I get in to work to see what shenanigans you crazy kids get up to (ironically, I'm probably younger than most if not all of you) :D I have to admit I revel in the drama and love reading about it, even though I'm not part of it. I think I'd actually like soap operas if they were about something other than infedelity/secret fathers and mothers/murder/other nonsense.

Anyway, read Dune a long long time ago, didn't like it. Revisited it 2 or 3 years ago and chugged through to Children of Dune (which completely and utterly baffled me when I last tried to read it) and kept going from there. I'm a proud OH (ideally) as far as book likings go. I admit I haven't read the first 2 trilogies, but my friend had and he told me about them. Can't say I'm eager, but maybe I'll read 'em some day. Read the two sequels, wasn't impressed.

I find it interesting to hear other people's takes on the various inconsistencies present throughout the books (yes, originals included), often I learn things I didn't catch the last time I read the book in question.

Anyways, hi!

Don't worry about it. There's more than enough off topic discussion to go around. I've only read the first three books (including a very recent re-read of Messiah and currently on Children) so don't count yourself out. Welcome to the boards and have fun!

Welcome!

Check out the reading group if you have difficulty understanding something in FH's books. I've done a summary of almost all the chapters.

Only a few more to go!

There's naught wrong with murders, neither on soap operas nor on forums!

In memory of Perach, who suffered and died needlessly.

I wish I could have been with you that one last time.
