Stillsuits blown a pump, looking for a reliable fix

Post by blipper »

Hello all, I'm a passionate admirer of FH's Dune books, have been for around 20 years.
At a push I think my favourite is God Emperor, though I adore them all, and Dune itself will always occupy a special place. I'm quite protective of Frank Herbert's Dune opus, believing it to be a most profound and insightful example of literature.

I've been very troubled over the years by BH/KJA's treatment and attitude toward Dune/Frank Herbert.
It's only recently where I finished Brian Herbert's Dreamer of Dune that I've been provoked back into online exploration with a view to understanding the current prevailing views amongst critics and fans. Jacurutu seems to be a place where more critical discussion is allowed, which is great, so I look forward to checking old threads and getting involved.

All the best,

Jon

Welcome! And dispite how it might look from the near-utter lack of KJA (we generally don't even mention BH as it's become clear that his input is minimal at best) defenders around here, we don't actually kick them out or anything, though it has often just turned into such an ugly argument that people quit. Most don't even bother to come here in the first place, attempting to defend the new books requires some serious logic bending and frankly it must be a lot of work!

It's not allowed, it's our raison d'être.

Anderson used raison d'etre in Sandworms. Can't see that FH used it in any of his Dune books. Even once. :snooty:
