Tying the knot !
A bit of Ghafla in these times of bad tidings and tales of the end of the world
I am getting married in August !!
It would have been the 40th wedding anniversary of my parents had my dad not passed away 6 years ago, and coincidence I am too getting married in London on the 13th(they got married on the 8th).
I met my bride on internet(no not that kind of bride ), around 10 years ago and we'd been online friends for all that time.
Then one day after a difficult break up(I don't do easies) I invited her round to my place(without going into details she also suffered a difficult break up too)
I got her drunk and now she wants me to be her husband
Never underestimate the power of Vodka Red Bull !
Anyway I've been around here for a while, and considering I found my sweetheart thanks to an internet forum, it was fitting to announce it on another one.
And also; I kinda like you, but don't tell Chig(for obvious reasons ^^) so there you go !

Congratz mate! I wish you all the happiness in the world!
Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

yup !Serkanner wrote:Congratulations! Another internet success story, cool.
quite fitting for a geeky science fiction fan I'd say, especially now that liking computers and working in video games can get you girls.
In my days, things were a lot different and geeks/nerds had to hide in shame lol
I'll cross that bridge when I get to it ?SandChigger wrote:Mabruk!

All I need is to get her to say yes in August; I was thinking shotgun wedding.

I met my bride on the internet too. Ten years and two kids later and we still have not killed each other yet.

I don't think I'm a marriage person myself, but I always feel very happy for those doing it when it's right for them! Plus they come with great parties!
Congrats!

and that's good enough for me...
there are a lot of questions raised by the issue of officialized unions, but there were practical reasons to this choice too... I mean they are sort of side effects not the main motivation for this.
We plan to go expat in a year and since I am a dual national French/English I thought it might help her too.
Plus she wants to bear my name, which I think is pretty cool(even though I had nothing to do with it being cool, and Irish)
For kids, work and even sometimes taxes it can be useful to do that, but the main reason is love of course <3

You always treat her with love, she always treat you with respect, and both be honest with each other and easy to forgive the other.lotek wrote:Omphalos wrote:I met my bride on the internet too. Ten years and two kids later and we still have not killed each other yet.

And after kids come along, make sure to make time for just you and her --at least once a month.
