Hello true herbertarians

Post by Asharu »

I'm glad to be here with you recognizing the true power of Dune Saga by Frank Herbert.
I read Dune when I was 13 years old. The book was in Spanish, and was owned by my father.
I loved it at the time and I still do.
Every time I read one of the books I found new knowledge and I felt wrath when I red KJA books. That is not Dune, nor Frank Herbert's world.
He just stole the wonders FH had created and make money with it.

For me, those that "appreciate" KJA bullshit are Powindah

When you re-read the books do you read them in English? If so, is there much of a difference due to the translation e.g. do you get different impressions of characters etc?

Greetings.

Shortly, a character we call SandRider will be by to claim your water for the sietch. Do not be alarmed! It's part of the process.

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

SadisticCynic: Indeed, you can find different things that can be lost in translation. I think that is always better the original but it depends on the translator. I had a pretty accurate version of the Dune 1st novel in spanish, I only realized when I got my hands on the english version. Really happy I did, still I appreciate my old edition. I still have all my versions. I own some paperbacks for daily use and hardcovers just for the collection :D
Spanish I got Dune, Dune Messiah and Chapterhouse. Since I've read the first chapter of Dune I'm a loyal to FH

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I have not many friends that truly appreciate the deep and complex journey that we have enjoyed as Dune fans. So I've felt a little alone out there without meeting real fans of Frank Herbert. There are some that think KJA work is not that bad, for that I've had fights and rants.

:cat fight:

I made the mistake of reading one novel of KJA. I hate him since the first line. He and that bastard that call himself son of Frank Herbert disrespected so much Dune novels that I felt sad.

Their water should have been claim a long time ago.

Please, forgive my mistakes because my mother language is Spanish.

last time I checked yes :)

so that's what it's all about then...

And Asharu whereabouts are you from Spain roughly ?

I come from the south west of France, about an hour from the border(but live in london), I actually work with Spanish people(and British, French, German, Italian, Japanese and some that I probably don't know of yet)

Speaking in tongues is frowned upon here :D so I can't show off my Spanish.

In your face Chig' :p
