House Ordos

Post by Omphalos »

There once was a man from Ordos,
In the big city he desired a whore or dos.
But he had no spice,
which ruled out his vice,
Leaving him with nothing to do but watch Macross.

I will be damned! You've found something Dune-ish I hate! I hate HATE house Ordos, in DUNE2000 I was like "WTF?" who are these guys?!

The only redeeming quality they have going for them is Nebrios's short story on Dunenovels in the fan fic section.

It's still better than Jake's stuff over on MySpace! :D

House Ordos...ugh.

I really do find Nebby's fanfic quite objectionable. Too much of the author's own morality seeps through (with regard to the BG). Feh.

I found Ompf's fan fiction "Dune of the Dead" was hilarious. As for nebrios' fan fiction, I think I'll steer clear of mister misogynist and his work.

I admire his ability to actually write, as I suck at sustained bodies of written work, my writing is definitely "stream of consciousness" on a good day and plain rambling on the bad ones

Bashing out a mass of text is the whole idea behind the NaNoWriMo project (and the secret of Kevin's "success"?), but it only provides you with the raw material...which it's actually a disservice to foist as is on your readers. Editing is essential. (As is spell-checking. ;) ) Too often Nebiros was posting unedited/unproofed text.

While personally I find his views on women and their place offensive, his injection thereof into his fiction as the general view of the BG is inexcusable. As I told him over on Arrakeen, if one or two characters expressed his views, it wouldn't have been so bad. But to have them echoed by the narrator as well was too much.

My favorite part of Nebby's fanfic were CL's rewrites.

Our double-teaming of Seru King wasn't too bad, either. Until Byron deleted it. :P

You love us, GamePlayer. You know it. :P

Yeah, Seru King was REALLY annoying until Byron set up the fanfic category. You never knew what he was referring to. At least Nebiros isn't that far gone.

Stilgar's Stable

A man from Ordos,
stopped by Dune,
to visit the famous store.

But the woman was gross,
wrinkled liked a prune,
and turned out to be a Whore.

With a swift kick,
crushed his prick,
Wormsign nevermore...
