This has been a nagging skelf in my mind for years, but does the Litany Against Fear change over the course if the saga? There is also the chance that my addled brain is contaminated by adaptations.
Frank Herbert in DUNE wrote: I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

It's given in slightly different versions on different occasions. Here's the other version:

Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past me I will turn to see fear's path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

Freak!

I'm pretty sure we talked about this at DN. Not sure we ever figured anything out, but I had seen this before.

It's changed very little, not in any significant way. To me it seems like FH was just reciting it from memory and got a couple words wrong.
