election day (United States)

Will you be watching? To the Americans will you be voting?

On November 4th I'll be in a polling station in L.A. watching people vote. And then I'll be counting the votes. Afterwards I'll be watching TV all night as the results are shown. Leaving for America in three days.

Where will you be on election day?

There's no reason to watch. Not only because it's not my country, but pop culture penetration will ensure I'm instantly informed of the result regardless. Besides, it's not like I wouldn't find out eventually :)

I've got one reason. This year I've done alot of "work" with the
Young Democrats group at the little university in town. This
mainly consisted of sitting around grumbling about the way they
dress & talk, pointless flirting with the young girls, and telling
equally pointless stories about campaigns past.

The Obamanon hit out here too, got a lot of young people fired
up. Plus, there's this obnoxious breed of old white guy out here
that firmly believes they were put on the the face of the Earth by
God Hisself to rule West Texas, and some of these kids just don't
see the world thataway. Imagine that !

So this year I spent alot of time in town at the County Democratic
Headquarters, teaching the kids about stuffing envelopes, making
phone calls, attending politcal forums, getting your letters in the
local paper, and the finer points of voter registration fraud.

We had some rallies on-campus (Barak-the-Vote & so forth), did a
lot of block-walks, and had great events at the Student Union (sorry,
STUDENT SERVICES CENTER) to watch the convention & debates, &
I'll be there with them Tuesday to watch the results. Hopefully I'll
be sober & coherent enough to avoid arrest by the campus police,
but I ain't bettin' on it.

I'm with GP on this one, I have a feeling I can skip watching and have a pretty good chance of finding out relatively quickly anyways just who will be running the USA.

I like watching election night returns. My boy is old enough to understand what is going on, and I just know that he is going to have a gazillion questions, so watching with him will be a lot of fun. My wife is very politically minded too, so she will want to join the party. Plus if another debalce occurs, I wouldnt want to miss a chance to get drunk and yell at the TV.

How would that be different than any other night? :)

I don't know wbout the rest of the country, but here in my state, early voting poll locations have had lines several hours long for weeks.

I have a feeling we're going to find out the answer to, "What if we had an election and everybody came?"

Expect a cluster fuck next Tuesday.

Seems likely that this election will set the record as highest voter turnout ever in the states.

It will be too late for me to watch it entirely because of the time difference, but I think I will stay a wee bit longer then usual.

interesting as in our recent election up here, we had a record low turnout..
Probably because most people don't like any of the parties! That's my only issue with having more than 2 parties is that we now end up with a party in power that only 37% of voters approve of. 63% of voters are strongly enough against the Cs to have voted for another party, and 41% or so of our eligible voters didn't give enough of a shit to vote. So really, only 22% of eligible Canadians voted for the Conservatives. :P  Hopefully that fact is remembered while they're making decisions that effect the rest of us (it won't be remembered of course  ).

Wow, I'm in a great mood today. Also sad that the Greens got Zero seats with 6.80% of the vote, and the Bloq got 50 seats with 9.97%. I should remember all of this next time I'm arguing that we have a better election system... sheesh.

Baraka Bryan wrote:remember by the same math, only 4% of canadians supported the greens :D
:D Of course (don't look at me, I didn't vote for them). And the Bloq was only supported by 5.98%.

I'm just bugging you because I know you consider this a majority gov and your party only has 37% or 22% depending on my math! Too good of a jab to resist.

:D Which party is that again?

I heard McCain was born in Cuba and is actually a Commie, and since he's only ever gone to Xian church and swears he's Xian you just know he's a closet-Islamist. All Muslims publicly denounce their belief in the prophet... don't they?

Ah, I don't know where my mood is coming from today.

I wish I could vote... maybe I'll have to work out some dual citizenship so I can have a say in who gets to be the leader of the free world too.

Socialist Islamists would be more accurate.

I hope they spread some of that wealth my way.

Nah, he was born in Panama, so he's really a farner and not eligible to become President. But they're overlooking it because the Kennedys vant Arnie (Schwarzenegger (sp?) not the dickhead on DN) to be Prezident zomeday, tsoo!

Go to Ohio, anyone can vote there, you don't even have to prove you're a resident... or a citizen for that matter.

Hey Freak, this was in your Inbox - I picked it up for you :

Dear Mr. Freakzilla:

Thanks for sending out an alert about Obama. We are living and working in Kenya for almost twelve years now and know his family (tribe) well. They are the ones who were behind the recent Presidential election chaos here. Thousands of people have been displaced by election violence(over 350,000) and I don't know the last count of the dead. Obama under "friends of Obama" gave almost a million dollars to the opposition campaign who just happened to be his cousin, Raila Odinga, who is a socialist trained in East Germany . He has been trying to bring Kenya down for years and the last president threw him in prison for trying to subvert this country! December 27th elections brought cries from ODM (Odinga Camp) of rigged election. Obama and Raila speak daily. As we watch Obama rise in the US we are sure that whatever happens, he will use the same tactic, crying rigged election if he doesn't win and possibly cause a race war in America .

What we would like you to know is what the American press has been keeping a dirty little secret. Obama IS a muslim and he IS a racist and this is a fulfillment of the 911 threat that was just the beginning. Jihad is the only true muslim way. We have been working with them for 20 years this July! He is not an American as we know it.

Please encourage your friends and associates not to be taken in by those that are promoting him. It is world wide jihad. All our friends in Europe are very disturbed by the muslim infiltration into their countries. By the way. His true name is Barak Hussein Muhammed Obama. Won't that sound sweet to our enemies as they swear him in on the Koran! God Bless you.

Pray for us here in Kenya . We are still fighting for our nation to withstand the same kind of assault that every nation, including America , is fighting. Takeover from the outside to fit the new world order. As believers, this means we will be the first targets. Here in Kenya , not one mosque was burned down, but hundreds of churches were burned down, some with people in them, burned alive.

Jesus Christ is our peace but the new world order of Globalism has infiltrated the church and confused believers into thinking that they can compromise and survive. It won't be so. I will send you a newsletter we sent out in February documenting in a more cohesive manner what I've tried to say in a few paragraphs.

Love, Celeste

Celeste and Loren Davis
