wow ... let me back to that a little later .... while I'll agree that these 3 statements are "common misconceptions",
the explanations given are possibly worse than the misconception themselves ... esp the first & last ones ... both
of those miss the actual point by a mile ...

And that one?

I don't hear anyone Fact-Checking the Big Dog's speech from the other night. Class was in session and I loved it.

I watched football.

I've seen the highlights. What facts are there to check?

Give me four more years to do the things I said I'd do in the last four?

What facts are there to check? It was Clinton's entire speech! Considering that every single Republican speech was debunked even while they were being given I'd say the Dems had a damn successful week.

Bill Clinton has the Weirding Way with him. He may have been a Naughtius Maximus, but by the Hand of God, his speech-skills devour many opposing buttocks of the Right.

Politicians are pretty gray. You either have honest men, liars, indifferent men, honest men who are forced by governmental obligation to lie, liars who are honest when it suits them, men who are too overworked to care, and people who act like Congress is just a boring many year attendance to high school and really don't want to do much of anything. Presidents who start out honest end up lying, or concealing things, because they realize how many freaky things have been piled up by the government over the years, and maintaining their secrecy becomes a HUGE distraction. You want completely honest politicians? You'll probably end up with thousands of fist fights in Congress, dead secret agents, and a Nuclear Civil War plus an international War. Well, maybe they shouldn't be THAT honest. Still, it would be nice if the politicians on the right were completely honest about why the left is making them so anxious, and how much they really know about history and socio-political systems of government. Many of them sound like they don't know what the term "socialism" means.
