It's funny, too. I was waiting to see what would come of this. I find it funny that they scanned an image onto official document paper, then made another scan of that. That's why there is that weird shadowing on the left edge. Regardless, though...

The obstetrician who delivered him, said it was Rodney T. West who was the attending Doctor. But a David A. Sinclair signed off on it. I suppose maybe that was because the doctor who signed off on it was 4 days later, since that was when the document got certified.

That's what I was trying to say. My point was that they did not pull it out of the book, and then scan it. They scanned it inside of the book and put the frame on it.

It depends on the country. Not all countries accept dual citizenship based upon the parent if born abroad.

Two things have popped up lately that I am curious about.

On the birth certificate, his father is listed as Kenyan, and his mother American. Yet, on Wikipedia, it says Kenya did nor form until 1963, and announced a republic in 1964. How can he be claimed as Kenyan when it was still a British protectorate?

Also, from what I understand -- if you are a dual citizen, aren't there issues then in not renouncing your citizenship before you can become president? I thought you had to be specifically a U.S. Citizen. Unless of course, his father being Kenyan was not enough.

As I understand it, the issue is not whether he's exclusively a U.S. citizen but whether he's been a U.S. citizen from birth by virtue of being born here. Having citizenship in other countries is not a factor either way.

In fact, I believe the U.S does not recognize dual citizenship, but nor does it prevent it; I did not have to give up my Australian citizenship in order to become a U.S. citizen. (My wife did, being Chinese, but that was a restriction of China, not of the United States).

From the Constitution:
"No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

It does not exclude anyone based on having a dual nationality. Here is a link to what the State Department has to say on dual citizenship
