Account Hackers

I've heard from several board members today - users, mods and admins alike - that when they try to log in they are advised that they have exceeded their maximum number of login attempts. This means that some nefarious shit munching hackers have been busy trying to find an account with lax password complexity. There are a few things we can do to try to combat this, but perhaps the first thing we should each do is make sure that the passwords we use are sufficiently complex. Mine has lower case, upper case, numbers and other characters in it. Does yours?

Now, that being said, lets not all charge out and change our passwords if they are sufficiently complex. Freak and I have to reapprove anyone who does change their password. So please don't do it if it's secure enough.

Thanks all. Let's all be careful out there.

I changed mine just to be safe (hadn't changed it in a while).

Looks like they tried it with mine, too. I had to identify a kitten.

I had this issue, wasn't sure what had caused it. I'll look at changing mine later, it's not very complex at all.

Well that answered the question I was going to ask. I got the same message but this was the first time I had signed on today. I think my password is safe. It contains a mix of # & letters both small and upper case but I have it saved on my cellphone so I wouldn't have to type it in each time (the screen can be small) should I change it and not save the new one on my cell?

It has been my turn apparently and I had to answer the super secret kitty question. I will request a new password to be on the safe side. My current one is not very good.

Same here. It's such a good password now that only Google Chrome knows what it is.

The Talos account, too, so I beefed up the password.

(That's right, the password is now "beefbeefbeef" :P )

Now that's been a long time coming.
