SadisticCynic wrote:Is that why Jessica had that done to Leto? I could never figure out the deeper reason to it. Cool.
Yes, the test wasn't actually surviving the overdose of spice but integrating his Other Memory and remaining sane.

"It would be stupid to repeat such a test on you or your brother," Jessica
said. "You already know the way it went. I must assume you are human, that you
will not misuse your inherited powers."
"But you don't make that assumption at all," Ghanima said.
Jessica blinked, realized that the barriers had been creeping back in place,
dropped them once more. She asked: "Will you believe my love for you?"
"Yes." Ghanima raised a hand as Jessica started to speak. "But that love
wouldn't stop you from destroying us. Oh, I know the reasoning: 'Better the
animal-human die than it re-create itself.' And that's especially true if the
animal-human bears the name Atreides."
"You at least are human," Jessica blurted. "I trust my instinct on this."
Ghanima saw the truth in this, said: "But you're not sure of Leto."
"I'm not."
"Abomination?"
Jessica could only nod.
Ghanima said: "Not yet, at least. We both know the danger of it, though. We
can see the way of it in Alia."

...

A welling bitterness toward the Lady Jessica filled him. Her damned gom
jabbar! Fight it and win, or die in the attempt. She couldn't put a poisoned
needle against his neck, but she could send him into the valley of peril which
had claimed her own daughter.

I thought he was just great in some of the SNL skits I've seen.
Him & Fallon doing the Barry Gibb show was an SNL classic, almost
up there with Belushi doing Joe Cocker ....

and I sorta like some of his music I've heard, when he's really
singing some R&B .... lots of talent, a very natural talent. He's
a Memphis boy, I think. Gots Elvis in him ....

the dancin' stuff I could do without. I'd like to see him in a very
serious, dramatic movie, maybe even a period historical thing.
Wild West Outlaw or Mercurtio in Romeo & Juliet, or a Viking ....

how to fully interact with people.

He's done a serious movie. Cant remember the title, but it was something about the abduction, ransom and murder of a teen aged kid.

Alpha Dog, according to WikiP.

I think I watched Edison during last summer's DVD binge, with him and Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey. Meh.

Sure, it'll have nipples. For the belt that is.
