Ship Story? I wonder if that could be a working title for either Destination: Void or Dragon in the Sea.

Thanks for sharing what you're finding there Omph, Personally I find it really exciting.

DV was not written at that point ('58) and they discussed Dragon elsewhere in the letter. "Ship Story' was capitolized, and the letter dealt with it in a hush-hush way, so Im pretty sure it was a reference to somehting written under a pseudonym.

The second one looks very much like FH's hand. The first is close, but in my opinion it is not as clear as the second. Being as Im not too paranoid, I would probably say that both are his though.

That's good news, now if we could only see what's on them.

HOLY SCHNIKES! I just found Blassingame's archive, and there are nine folders of letters related to FH! I gotta get to Oregon!

Im really starting to dig on this literary research stuff.

    Who is he again? :?

Herbert's literary agent. I found the Blassingame Papers on line and just made a request for an estimate for them to copy me the folders and send them to me. There are nine folders, but only three of them predate 1970, so maybe I will be able to get a few of them.

cool. then who's the book dedicated to?
    :D

    yosh...

To Lurton Blassingame, who helped buy the time for this book, dedicated with affection and admiration.

Wow, all this Fullerton Archive Searches seems very exciting. This is how Odrade must felt when she discovered the message from Leto to the Bene Gesserit :D .
Now seriously, this seems a great labour from Omphalos and i hope this will serve us to discover new insights into the work of Frank Herbert (I mean something more than:
"look, this directly contradicts what is on the prequels".
Well, yeah, what you expected?, they are just shitty non-fan-fiction, but that we alredy knew.)

It's a hell of a lot of fun. Last semester I took a Library class on how ot use the system to research and had a blast spending time in the stacks just going over books and seeing what was available.
