Sayyadinas & Reverend Mothers

Post by EsperandoAGodot »

How were these titles applied, and how were they women they were applied to selected? I don't seem to recall any specific process by which a woman is chosen to be a Sayyadina and then subsequently to take the Water of Life - Jessica's role as one and then the other was sort of preordained.

I always thought there was one per sietch, and when that one died or became a reverend mother or something oof that general nature some other woman was selected to bear the title.

Yes, but surely they are not selected at random.

Durring the Cerimony of the Seed, the Reverend Mother consecrates the new Sayyadina and asks the seitch for approval and the current Sayyadina becomes a Reverend Mother. Originally the past was handed down oraly and later Reverend Mothers with the Rossak poison then the Water of Life on Arrakis.
