I didn't realize that he was the one who worked on some of KJA's Star Wars books. Now the cover to Paul of Dune makes sense.

What's that old site that had a man stretching his anus in the front page?
It could be used perfectly for Smellhole.

I wish I could have been with you that one last time.

Uh, I think I'll pass. KJA certainly seems the type though.

You should thank her for not brining the original image...as that would've been a bit, disturbing.

You're right, orald; I'm glad I no longer remember the original image. I just thought I would never see anything like it again. Guess I should have known better

I only came across it after hearing(at Worm's?) that there was some hoax involved with some symbol some gov' made for something(olympics?) from suggestions people sent them.
Something with a very similar image disguised as an innocent circle.

Edit: Ah, here it is!

I knew there was a reason why I remembered "England" and "olympics" to be connected.

Returning to the original topic...

Before my work schedule claims my remaining free time, I do have one final comment concerning Mr. Byron Meritt, the public representative for the Herbert Limited Partnership more commonly known as the HLP, who used the threat of litigation on this board to silence one of it's members.

There's no way to emphasize quote "names" so I couldn't point out your name is Mr. Teg...doing the unexpected.

Of course we are allowed to do so, but I must emphasize this: We hate the HLP but many are blood related or knew Frank Herbert well a man many of us call a genius.
kinship does not assure capacity. I remember a tv documentary on Nostradamus, the man died and his son wanted to make a living as a prophet too, he began to make prophecies, but he found out that he didn't have the talent, so he once predicted that a famous bridge was going to burn, and he went and put it on fire, he was senteced to death!
Only the books written by Frank Herbert are canon.

This seemed like the best thread to post this, since KJA's book Blindfold and its being on a list of Byron's was mentioned before (about halfway through or so). I can't find where Mr. Teg or anyone else has posted it, but if it's already here, let me know and I'll delete it.

I was over on Amazon trolling around and noticed that there are two Byron Merritt accounts. One has only this one review:
Reviews Written by
Byron Merritt (California)

Blindfold
by Kevin J. Anderson
Edition: Paperback
Availability: Out of Print--Limited Availability

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful:
Well done Science Fiction, December 22, 1999
This review is from: Blindfold (Paperback)

After speaking with Kevin Anderson in San Francisco at a German restaurant about his new book with Brian Herbert (Dune: House Atreides), I asked him, if there were any book that he'd ever written before that he would recommend(one that he was very proud of). He told me to pick up a copy of Blindfold, if I could find a copy. Luckily, I was able to thanks to Amazon.com and I read it this fall. It is, in a word, remarkable. The story is put together like a masterpeice and I loved it from beginning to end. I hope that other lovers of Science Fiction will search and find this book as well because it is well worth your reading time. Good luck finding a copy folks. You can't have mine!

(Byron's July 17 review of the movie Legion—attached to his regular profile—is worth a peek just for the chuckles; the title gives you an idea of what I'm talking about: "The Apocolypse Has Cometh! And It's Really Stupideth!" It gets worse. Looks like the apostrophe key on his keyboard was broked. )

So he's got the same bloody review of 'Blindfold' posted under both of his accounts - same old ethical Byron.

And I noticed that one of his reviews is for a tape dispenser

Thought that was incredibly sad - until I noticed that 99 other people have also reviewed it
Freakzilla - "Apparently we can only aspire to be the 13th biggest Dune fan since we are not family or in the HLP."

Byron - "Are you trying to irk me?"

did you post a disclaimer in the comments pointing out the business/family connection
between "author" and "reviewer" ?

nevermind, I'll do it ...

[edit]
Sandrider:
altho almost eleven years too late, and altho the chances of someone actually buying *and* reading this book
are quite slim, I feel it is important to point out that Byron Merritt is the son of a member of the Herbert Limited
Partnership, the legal entity that controls the rights to the works of Frank Herbert, and the people responsible
for allowing hack-for-hire Anderson to write new cash-cow McDune books with Brian Herbert's name on them;
Merritt is also the administrator of the Official Corporate Dune Forum, and the Official Corporate Apologist for McDune.

at the time of this review, Anderson was in the employ of the HLP, as was Merritt; this connection should be
pointed out for a fair evaluation of Merritt's opinion; however, the shilling-connection aside, any other perusal
of Merritt's writings, opinions, or reviews on any subject whatsoever should be sufficient for any thinking person
to determine that Byron Merritt is hardly an opinion-source to be heeded ...

just sayin' ....

I personally feel that this message board, Jacurutu, is full of hateful folks who don't know
how to fully interact with people.

Ah, I didn't check his newer account for a review of it. So there are two? Sheesh...

How many of the KJASF shills have reviewed it? Will check later...
